The vintage truck from the Trucking Along stamp set was perfect against this background. To colour it, I used a technique which I learned during one of our demonstrator events a couple of months ago where we were shown how to create the look of a rusty old ute.
CREATING THE TRUCK
Stamp truck in Saddle Brown Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Paper
Using a Water Painter add Wild Wheat ink in sections
Once dry, add Pecan Pie
Once dry, add Tahitian Tide
Pooling the water in sections will make the colours run creating the look of rust. However don’t over do it as you don’t want the colours to become muddy. I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process between colour applications.
The background created with the Rays of Light stamp set was inked with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. When using a large background stamp, place the stamp face up and ink it then take the paper down to it. Press firmly and rub over it to ensure the ink transfers fully.
To take away the starkness of the white background I lightly blended Pumpkin Pie ink around the rays using a Blending Brush.
Some fussy cut clouds were added to create this mini scene. The rust look was carried through to the banners which were die cut from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper.

With so many products to choose from, you can create everything from simple projects to very detailed. My card is definitely not so Rosy today. I have gone with shades of green and brown for some nature-inspired colours. For my card base I used the retiring In-Colour – Tranquil Tide.
The inspiration for my layout is taken from the brand new Annual Catalogue which will be available on 4th June. I chose the ard in the top left with the anchor for my sketch. I liked the borders on the sides of the card.

This card is great for the beginner with a little bit of stamping and added elements to create a quick and easy card. I started off by stamping the leaves right along both edges of the Designer Paper in Old Olive. Photopolymer stamps make it easy to create a border like this as you can see through it.
Stamping on patterned paper gives you added design and texture to your projects. The Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) has so many textured images in it that it can be used for all types of projects.
The sentiment was stamped onto a pre-cut label from the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit. This Kit comes in a lovely presentation box with the Stampin’ Up Statement of the Heart printed on top. The silver flower is also from this kit and adds a lovely finishing touch to this #simplestamping card.

I stepped this card up a little bit by adding some stamped flowers in Soft Suede and leaves in Tranquil Tide behind the sentiment. These stamps are so beautiful and I really like the Soft Suede version of these flowers. I added some twine from the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit to complete this card.

My card for the avid crafter utilizes the beautiful dies that come in the Everything is Rosy Product Medley. I stamped the flowers in Soft Suede onto Soft Suede cardstock. The leaves have been stamped in Tranquil Tide onto Old Olive cardstock which gives it a lovely two-tone effect.
The additional leaves are die cut from Tranquil Tide cardstock. Although they look similar to the leaves that are stamped behind on the Desginer Series Paper, it doesn’t cut out the stamped image – it’s completely different. However, it works together with the stamp to create a fuller look.
To break the greens and browns up I wanted a black and white paper. However I had nothing to match which was current, so I created my own with the handwritten background stamp. This is a stamp which I haven’t used much but I am loving this look in black as it added just what I wanted to make those flowers stand out.
The sentiment was heat embossed with Clear embossing powder to make it pop against the flowers. I created a bow by wrapping twine 3 times around my fingers and tying it off. Then I added the braided linen which really works well with the Wood Textures DSP.
The Everything is Rosy Product Medley has it all for creating the most beautiful projects. Today I only used some of the stamps and dies so you can imagine how much more you could do with the entire kit. All items I used for these cards are listed below. Step-it-Up Sunday today features one of my favourite stamp sets – Country Road. if you know anything about me, you know I’m a bit partial to all things country and this carries over to stamps as well. After choosing the stamp set I wanted to work with, the next decision was a colour palette. Mossy Meadow was my first choice as I hadn’t used it a great deal and I wanted to use a colour that hadn’t been featured much. Once that was decided, I needed a earthy colour as my base so Sahara Sand was my coordinating colour. Working out my colours like this makes it easy to create a coordinating palette for my projects.
Having my ink pads stored in the new Storage by Stampin’ Up! modular storage is also great when working out colour combinations. I have ink pads sitting right in front of me on my desk and when I pick up a ink pad that I want to coordinate with another colour, I just hold it against the other ink pads and see which suits. Having them handy and right at my fingertips, without having to move anything, makes it very easy.
Beginner
The Beginner card uses the Clear Block stamping technique to add a block of colour to the Very Vanilla panel. To get this look, I took Clear Block D and inked it up with the Sahara Sand ink. Then I spritzed the block with water. Make sure that you shake off any excess water off the block otherwise it will drip on your cardstock (I learned after the second stuff up!). Each time you do this technique, the result will vary. I think the washed look and variations in colour looks effective and creates a fun, yet easy background.
The grass has been stamped, several times in Mossy Meadow and the weather vane in Early Espresso. The sentiment is from the Country Home stamp set and has been stamped in Mossy Meadow. Burlap ribbon adhered with Tear & Tape adds a quick trim to complete this card with some simple stamping.
Casual
I stepped this card up with some stamping over multiple layers of cardstock (Normally Triple Time stamping but in this case Double Time). I temporarily adhered the Sahara Sand square to the Very Vanilla panel. This is done by adding a little bit of Tombow Glue to the Sahara Sand cardstock and leaving it aside for a couple of minutes.
Tombow, once left like that, becomes tacky. Then I placed this on top of the Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the grass over the 2 panels. You need to press quite firmly and hold the stamp in place a few seconds longer as you are stamping over an uneven surface. Once the stamping is complete then the Sahara Sand panel can be taken off.
At this point, I stamped the wagon wheel in Sahara Sand and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento in, then adhered this to a Basic Black panel which was added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The weather vane was fussy cut and I added Dimensionals to the horse part and liquid glue to the bottom section so it sat flat on the card. I stepped up the ribbon by adding linen thread and a bow.
To create this bow, take the linen thread with your right hand and wrap round 4 fingers of the left hand. Then wrap it twice around 3 fingers and then around 2. Carefully take it off your fingers while holding one section of the strands together so the formed circles don’t fall apart. Pinch the centre of the strands together and this will form your loops. Snip off the thread leaving a little extra and use that to wind round the centre of your bow and tie in a knot with the other strand. Tighten firmly.
To further secure this, take another piece of linen thread and tie it around the bow. This will give you 4 tails to your bow. Then fan out all the loops to create a really cute bow.
Avid
This card has several added elements to keep the avid crafter happy. I started off by embossing the weather vane in copper and fussy cutting it. It gives that aged look to it with the embossing and I love it. As a base for all my elements, I chose a Merry Merlot circle which has been embossed with the corrugated embossing folder. This folder and me – love, love, love. The addition of the Merry Merlot makes the card pop.
I stamped the wagon wheel and used my 1 3/4″ circle punch but as that’s not available any more, the Layering Circle dies will work fine as well.
The star was stamped in Merry Merlot and I bent the edges to give it dimension. It’s sitting on top of a few leaves punched with the Sprig punch . The tile is from the Country Home stamp set. I like the colour and detail it adds to the whole picture.
The Country Road stamp set is retiring and won’t be carrying over into the new catalogue. Make sure to add it to your collection before it’s gone. Click on any item below to be taken direct to my store.

Blessed Easter to each one of you. How are you celebrating today? I made little Easter boxes for the child and the big child (!) in the house. The Easter egg hunt will be later this evening because Adrian’s out accompanying a choir and he likes to be part of the action.
Being Easter Sunday, I couldn’t go past the God’s Grace stamp set for Step-it-Up Sunday. It has lovely floral images and really meaningful Easter sentiments. I have chosen the single flower in this set as my focal image.
The card base is Gray Granite Cardstock which is 21 x 14.8cm scored in half to form a card base of 14.8 x 10.5cm
Beginner
Shimmer White panel 6.8 x 9.9cm
Clear Block Stamping Technique
This is a very quick way to add colour to a piece of cardstock. I used the Clear Block stamping method to add colour to the Shimmery White cardstock. Do this by spritzing the cardstock with water. Then use Clear Block E and directly ink it up with the Pear Pizzazz stamp pad. I stamped off on a scrap piece of paper once so the colour wasn’t so strong. Then stamp this onto the wet cardstock. Spritz extra water if necessary to make the colour move and add extra colour as required.
I used the Stamparatus to stamp the flower and the sentiment at the same time using Stazon ink. I chose to use Stazon ink as i wanted the image to really stand out against the Pear Pizzazz background. The advantage of using the Stamparatus is that it gave me the opportunity to restamp the image to get it as dark as I wanted – I did this 3 times. Without it, this would be impossible to line up.
Adhere this to the card base and you have a very simple yet pretty card all done in minutes. #simplestamping
Casual
I added a sheet of Designer Paper from the Floral Romance pack which already had a pale woodgrain effect. Then I stamped this with one of my favourite stamp sets, Hardwood, in Pear Pizzazz.
The flower was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I added the Lovely Lipstick on the flower and I like how it adds that pop of colour. The flower was fussy cut and mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I mounted the entire panel using Dimensionals.
Avid
I stepped this card up by using the Emboss Resist Technique on the Shimmer cardstock. The leaves were stamped and embossed with White embossing powder. I then covered part of the cardstock diagonally with a scrap piece of cardstock. I spritzed this section with water and sprinkled Moss Green Brusho Crystal to it. After letting it dry a little, I covered that section and spritzed the other half and sprinkled Yellow Brusho Crystal on it. I did want the colours to merge at the centre, I lifted my scrap paper so the yellow ran through and added a bit more green to it as well. Once this dries, you will notice that the leaves that have been embossed can still be seen.
Lots of layers add extra dimension and interest to this card. The lacy look at the back was achieved by using the laser cut specialty paper which I embossed with Black embossing powder. I really love the glossy, elegant look of this. The possibilities with laser cut paper!

For my Step-it-Up Sunday blog posts each week, I try to feature a different stamp set each time and create with different occasions and interests in mind. Today my chosen stamp set is Nine Lives. Together with the matching punch, these stamps make it easy to add dimension to any cute kitty. I love the added extras in this set like the food bowl, ball of wool, fish and mouse with which you can create a cute picture.
When I struggle for colour combinations, I tend to go for my Designer Series Paper and work off them. I chose the Garden Impressions Designer Paper and the colours of Blueberry Bushel, So Saffron and Mango Melody. Two yellow shades? Not the usual but then I added my cat in Crumb Cake to break it up.
Basic
I first adhered the strip of Garden Impressions Paper. The sentiment and ball of wool has been stamped in Blueberry Bushel. I stamped the cat in In Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, punched it out and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then this entire panel was attached onto the card base with Dimensionals.
Casual
An addition of Mango Melody behind the Garden Impression panel and embossing on the So Saffron square steps this card up for the Casual crafter. I also created a mock ball of wool with the Night of Navy baker’s twine.
Avid
For this card I took my inspiration from our fluffy – Toulouse. She is a rescue cat we got at 7 months old and now she’s been with us nearly 2 years. How did she get her name? My daughter, Cassidy loves Disney. The movie Aristocats has a cat named Toulouse who is a ginger. AlthoughToulouse is female the name suits her. Here she is with Cassidy who loves her to bits.
I wanted to get my colours similar to Toulouse’ colours. I stamped the cat outline in Soft Suede and stamped the inner markings with Soft Suede stamped off once. This allowed me to colour over it with the Stampin’ Blends.
The Stiched Label Frame was die cut from Shimmery White cardstock then I sprinkled Yellow Brusho Powder on it. I spritzed it with water and left it to dry. Then I used an Aqua Painter to apply Mango Melody reinker over this in sections to add a deeper colour. Immediately I stamped the hearts in Mango Melody over the entire label. This gave the hearts a water colour look with no real definition and I liked it because you get a subtle background.
The Frame Elements is part of the Animal Expedition suite. I like the various wood elements in this set which can be used on different projects. For this card I have embossed it in Black Embossing Powder.

Many times it’s been said that cards for men are so hard to make and ideas are hard to come by. In the current Occasions Catalogue we have 2 bundles, apart from stamp sets, that really make it easy to create those hard to make men’s cards. Beginner
This card for the beginner stamper creates a scene with stamping in dfferent colours. I incorporated the water in Balmy Blue and the grass in Mossy Meadow from the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set. The sentiment is stamped on Balmy Blue cardstock. I I was unsure about what colour card base to use and in the end went with Cajun Craze. I like the earthy look it brings to this card.
Casual
Lots of die cut grass was added from the Catch of the Day framelits as well as Lakeside Framelits. I also die cut the fisherman and attached him with Stampin’ Dimensionals. When trying to align the stamp and the die I ran into a bit of trouble. Every time I stamped the fisherman, one part of it didn’t align with the die. So I went back to a method I have used in the past when I have this problem.
Aligning Tricky Stamps
First die cut the shape from a piece of cardstock. Then place your stamp inside the die cut space. It’s a bit like a puzzle piece. This ensures that the stamped image is not slightly askew and then it will align with your die. Keep your template for future use.
Avid
This card has been stepped up for the Avid crafter with a die cut oval in the centre and an embossed fish added to create more technique to this card.
To create the die cut oval temporarily attach the Very Vanilla panel on top of the card base. I added a bit of tombow glue to the back of the Very Vanilla cardstock and let it dry for a couple of minutes. This makes it tacky and allows you to attach it together for die cutting.
Once the oval was die cut, I separated the Very Vanilla panel and ran it through the Big Shot with the larger Stitched Oval. This creates the frame so that the Cajun Craze cardstock shows through.
Using the Stitched Oval die that was used to cut the Very Vanilla panel, I embossed the Cajun Craze cardstock oval with Embossing Mats to show the stitched effect.
On the inside of the card I added a piece of cardstock which was die cut with the In the Wood framelits die and sponged with Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive ink. The bag has been stamped in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake cardstock with sections coloured with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend.
I think my favourite image in this set is the fish because it’s a larger image and you can colour it so many ways. Several Stampin’ Blends combined to create this look.
Next I wanted to get a metallic look on the fish like scales. Wink of Stella was applied in sections then I poured Gold Embossing Powder and heat embossed it. I did this a few times until a got the look I wanted. The Wink of Stella takes the place of Versamark in this instance.
This would be a fun card to give anyone who loves fishing. This fish is definitely the b-i-i-i-i-g catch fisherman talk about.
