Hi Friends,

Thank you for visiting my page today. Welcome to those who are new subscribers. I sincerely hope you find ideas and inspiration as you scroll through and have fun trying them. I know I have a heap of fun preparing my projects to share with you.

Today, I am participating in the TGIF Challenges with an inspiration challenge this week. Aren’t these colours so pretty together? I’m thinking ice creams, sorbets and beautiful flowers. School holidays are just around the corner and I know some of you are escaping to warmer climates – far away from the cold of Melbourne. Well, this one’s for you while you are enjoying the sunshine.

I have taken inspiration from the colours and the garden in the challenge. The first idea that popped into my head was Coastal Cabana, a deck chair and Thrill Ride dies (I think because of the stripes on the soda stand). I imagined having a nice relaxing seat in a garden with a tree overhanging, maybe reading a book. Once I started working out the details of my card, I opted for the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder instead of the roller coaster. This became my fence.

Check back tomorrow for my tip on getting a good result with this embossing folder. It’s unconventional but it works.

First I stamped the bushes in Garden Green. Then I stamped some more in Old Olive and die cut them.  I used a brayer to add Coastal Cabana and Pool Party to the sky. The clouds were added with Shimmery White Embossing paste. It gave my summer scene a bit of a magical feel. The deck chair has  been fussy cut.

I took the element of the blackboard image from the challenge and used it for my sentiment. This has been heat embossed and die cut from the Stitched Labels dies and attached on top of another die cut label which has been trimmed down. This is another way to extend the uses of your dies so they are not limited to the sizes they come in.
