Let’s Go On An Adventure is our theme for the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop this month. Our team hops together on the second Wednesday of each month with interesting themes prepared for us by Angie McKenzie who organises it so well. We are glad to have Angie back hopping with us this month after a little break.
We were given lots of ideas as to where our adventure could take us such as our craft room, backyard, down the street, our favorite vacation spot or anywhere our imagination took us. Well, right now, my craft room is a daily adventure of trying to find things so that’s a project in and of itself! I went with the general theme of adventure in the sense of travel.
As I saw this challenge, I knew which stamp set I wanted to use. When I scour through my catalogue, I try to find those individual stamp sets that don’t belong to bundles or suites but really pique my interest. The Next Destination stamp set was such a set. I loved the travel theme with a vintage look.
That being said, I struggled with creating this card. It just didn’t come together until the very last minute. I had all these ideas in my head as to how I wanted to use it with different elements laying on my desk. A last minute colour added in made the difference for me. Can you guess which colour I added into the mix?
I used a range of Designer Series Paper to build up my layers. A piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper was washed with Pecan Pie using a Water Painter. On this I layered a couple of banners, one being cut out of White Centre Paper. I embossed this with the timber embossing folder and sanded it back to reveal the white centre.
I used the Gorgeously Made label die as a guide to cut around to form the edges for the sentiment. The subtle texture it adds creates more interest to that cluster of elements in the centre.
So which colour did I choose to add on? Azure Afternoon. Did you guess right? It just changed the look of this card completely by brightening it up just enough and bringing out those neutral colours.
