AWOW Blog Hop – Sketch Challenge with Delicate Dreams DSP

Hello and welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop for April. On the second Wednesday of each month, our team comes together to share creative inspiration centred around a monthly theme. It is always such a joy to see the many different ways each person interprets the same prompt. After spending the past year celebrating our 5th anniversary and CASEing the wonderful creations of our talented team members, this month marks a return to our regular themed challenges.

For April, we are working with a sketch challenge. I always enjoy the versatility of a good sketch, and this one provided a wonderful starting point for layering pattern, colour and detail into a simple yet pretty design.

For today’s card, I chose to feature the beautiful Delicate Dreams Designer Series Paper and paired it with the sweet imagery from the Notes of Spring Stamp Set. The soft neutral tones of the paper created such a lovely base for layering, while the deer and florals added a gentle woodland feel to the design.

I used the sketch as my starting point and interpreted it with plenty of texture and dimension. I started with the Perennial Postage die cuts, altering one to be narrower so it worked in with the sketch. Each die cut was then embossed with the Birch Wood Embossing Folder.

The Designer Series Paper on the base was finished with splatters of White Craft Ink, creating a lovely detail that adds cohesion to the card.

I distressed the next layer of Designer Series Paper to add a little more texture and interest before building my focal panel on top. The deer image is from the March Product of the Month stamp set, Notes of Spring. You can qualify to purchase a Product of the Month with an order of $125.

To build out the focal cluster, I added some reeds from the Relaxing Waterside Bundle, which is an upcoming product from our May–August Catalogue. A few fussy cut floral images were tucked in around the design to add softness and fullness to the arrangement. To finish the card, I added ribbon and twine for extra texture and softness, which works so beautifully with the natural feel of this design.
