Father’s Day Card with a Bicycle Theme
I’ve got a Father’s Day card to inspire you with this Saturday. While we are not celebrating Father’s Day in Australia, I know other parts of the world areand I thought it would be nice to create something for the occasion. Of course, you could substitute the sentiment and make it work for some other occasion or Pin this idea for when you do need a Father’s Day card.

I have been inspired by the colour palette at the Color Throwdown Challenge CTD834 and Sketch no. 286 at Sketch n Scrap.
I chose Garden Green, Misty Moonlight and Timid Tiger for my colours. Once I had chosen the bicycle from the Good Times Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, I worked around it with the other elements.

I love when a project comes together using pieces I’ve already got on hand! This card is a bitsa card – I picked up bits and pieces I had laying around to complete it! For this card, I started with the outer white frame from the Gallery Blooms Dies, which I had previously cut and saved. This particular die is great because it gives you multiple cuts in one pass—two frames and a centre rectangle—perfect for keeping in your stash for future use.
To build on this frame, I layered a die-cut rectangle from the Textured Notes Dies, adding some dimension and subtle detail.
For the base card, I used a piece of Country Lace Designer Series Paper. From this, I die cut another rectangle, which I then adhered over the layered section. It added a beautiful tone-on-tone effect and really helped bring the whole design together by repeating shapes and patterns.

I had watercoloured a piece of grass earlier this week with the intention of using it on my bunny cards, but since it didn’t make it onto those, I repurposed it here as a soft backdrop for the bike to rest against. The hexagons were also leftover elements from my stash. The outer frame was originally die cut from the Cute as Can Bee DSP in Old Olive. To tie it in better with the tones of this card, I blended some Garden Green ink over it—which gave it a deeper, richer look.
To keep the masculine feel of this card while still reflecting the sentiment of the occasion, I added some punched hearts from the Market Garden DSP. For a subtle finishing touch, I used the Humble Home Builder Punch to add tiny dots cut from coordinating cardstock. It’s a simple way to embellish without going over the top—and I think it strikes just the right balance.

I hope you have a lovely rest of the weekend and if you are celebrating a special Dad this Sunday, I hope your family has a wonderful day.
