Spot the Dog – Inspire. Create. Challenge #071

Playful Pets and Playing with Patterns – now that’s going to be a fun combination! I had so much fun creating this card. The Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper has fun patterns and colours and just gives a cheerful feel. So it was a great backdrop for this cute doggy.

I stamped a strip of the ombré DSP in Coastal Cabana with the floral triangle from The Right Triangle stamp set. Moving the triangle around you can completely cover a piece of DSP or cardstock. I was inspired by this sketch at the Inspire. Create, Challenge blog.

To create the thin stripe on the left, I used the die with the row of triangles. I think this bundle will be one I will be using time and time again as I love the geometric patterns and also the ability to use it in a more softer way.

The dog was coloured in Stampin’ Blends and I added a little bow with some linen thread from the Gorgeous Posies Kit.

During June, you can earn The Right Triangle bundle or any other bundle in the Annual Catalogue, for free. Just purchase a Starter Kit which is any selection of items that you choose worth $235 and pay only $169. Then you will also get to select ANY bundle from the Annual catalogue as an extra.

Step-it-Up Lily Pad Birthday Card

Hi Friends,

I’ve got a Step-it-Up card for you today using 3 free Sale-A-Bration products. Some of you maybe familiar with a series I ran a couple of years ago called Step-it-Up Sunday. Each Sunday I would feature a card made for the beginner crafter, casual crafter and the avid crafter. It’s not a Sunday (I need a weekend … again!) but it’s step-it-up time here at Stamping Flair.

This card features some simple stamping on a Whisper White card base. The Lovely Lily Pad stamp set is a reversible stamp set so the outline of the lily is on one side of the stamp. Flip it over and you have the fill in image.

Beginner card using Lovely Lily pad SAB stamp set by Stampin' Up!

I love how simple this stamp is to use and hey, you don’t have to worry about lining it up because no matter how hard you try, it’s not going to. That’s just how it’s designed – love it. Then I added some background splattering with the Artisan Textures stamp set in Coastal Cabana. Pretty, simple and quick. Perfect if you are a Beginner Crafter or need a card in a hurry.

The card for the Casual Crafter (someone who crafts occasionally) has been stepped up with a bit of die cutting.

More detail has been added to the card for the Avid Crafter (papercrafting addict). I added the beautiful die cut black border which makes the DSP pop.

I added more depth to the stamped lily by shading with Stamin’ Blends. This colouring medium is beautiful to work with and it’s great quality and very user friendly. You don’t need to be an artist to use them.

Quick Makes with the Best Route Suite

Over the last couple of days, I’ve been creating some cards with the Best Route Suite. This suite is made of bold and bright colours and is suitable to make masculine cards with images of planes, cars and bicycles. Using the products together make it easy to create cards quickly.

I used the Designer Series Paper and Memories & More Card Pack to cover card bases. You will notice that I altered the card packs by punching shapes, fussy cutting words and borders. This extends the use of these card packs even more. Currently, the Designer Series Paper is part of the buy 3 get 1 free offer which ends 31st July.

In the card below right, the ‘Today is Your Day’ has been punched from the centre of one of the cards and layered on a Gray Granite circle to form the focal point for it. For the card on the left, I stamped the sentiment once on the small card and then in Blueberry Bushel and Mango Melody and then fussy cut the signs.

A combination of punched circles from DSP and Memories & More Card Pack forms the main image of this card. I CASEd bits of this card from the catalogue. Those small coloured arrows were fussy cut from one of the small cards. Another way of using up every part of the Card Pack.

The card on the right has been CASEd from the catalogue. The striped tag behind the sentiment is from the sticker sheets in the Memories & More Card Pack. This has been cut in sections to make it longer so it fits the length of the card.

For the card on the left, the sentiment has been stamped and layered onto DSP. I cut the sticker tags in half to form the tabs and that leaves me another half to use on another card.

Step-It-Up Sunday #2

For this week’s Step-It-Up Sunday I have chosen a stamp set with simple, clean lines. A Mother’s Flair has elegant image and makes me think of classy ladies going to the theatre. Although it is intended for Mothers, today’s card could be used for anyone.

All the cards had a Powder Pink layer embossed with the Polka Dot embossing folder. I really loved the black, pink and white combination with this lovely shoe.

For the Basic Card, the image has been stamped, die cut with the oval and layered. The beautiful black shimmer ribbon adds a touch of glamour. I added this to the cardstock by adhering 2 pieces of tear and tape to the back of the Powder Pink cardstock. The knot was added separately with a glue dot.

The Intermediate level card had some extra layers added to it. The DSP is from the Tutti Frutti pack. Always check the other side of your DSP because you never know what’s hiding there! A few rhinestones added a little bling.

This card would consume a little more time. I inked up the image in Versamark ink and then in Black Archival ink. Then I stamped the image and heat embossed it. I coloured in the flower with Powder Pink Stampin’ Write’ Marker.

I also added a layer of silver baker’s twine on top of the black shimmer ribbon and then tied it off in a bow. The rhinestones comple this catd.
