When I saw the theme at Just Add Ink Challenges #655 I knew I had to take part. Music has been a part of my life since the day I was born. With a mother who was a piano teacher and choir directress we were a home immersed in it’s rich heritage.
I chose the Enjoy the Rhythm stamp set with an idea of making more of a guy card. Taking a panel of Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper, I embossed it with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder. This Pebble Path sheet has a dry brush look background which immediately added a light and dark area to the embossing.
I went over the embossing with Tuxedo Black, using a Sponge Dauber to highlight the music notes.
Next I added a banner with the Dry Brushed Metallic Paper which was a look I liked. At this point I decided to add the Gilded Leafing over the embossed panel as I felt it would work well against the Specialty Paper. I used a brush and my fingers to smoothen the surface and take off the excess. Have you played with Gilded Leafing? It’s a fun product which adds beautiful texture.
There are different ways you can apply Gilded Leafing. On this card, I roughly dragged the Versamark Ink Pad in the areas that I wanted the gold on. Then I applied Heat & Stick Powder over these areas, activating the stickiness by heating it with a Heat Tool. Next I laid the embossed panel face down into my Gilded Leafing container.
TIPS FOR WORKING WITH GILDED LEAFING
Transfer the Gilded Leafing to a larger box. It comes packaged in a small container. By transferring it to a larger container, I’m able to place a card front in it and have more space to work with it.
Don’t breathe over it or sneeze on it! It will fly away everywhere!
Using Paper Snips, I gently scraped off some of the Gilded Leafing to expose the notes and stave. I really liked this background which highlighted the embossed detail even more and gave it a bit of a ‘funky’ look.
On the sentiment panel, I stamped sections of the piano keys by masking off the sentiment, to create some added texture. The guitar which has been coloured with Stampin’ Blends was kept simple against the gold tinged background.
I hope you give this fun techique a try and if you have any questions please get in touch with me. All supplies I have used are listed below. If you live in Australia, you can shop with me by placing an order online or by contacting me.

Hello and welcome to our New at SU Blog Hop for January. Our theme this month is Sale-A-Bration and a matching envelope. If you are coming over from Loni’s blog, I’m sure you would have been treated to something amazing. How cute are those carrots? Make sure you check out all the inspiration from our team using our fabulous SAB products.
I’ve used the beautiful In the Country stamp set which you can earn free with a $90 order during Sale-A-Bration. There are a range of products you can take your pick from and every $90 you spend will earn you a free product. This stamp set appealed to me right from the start.
I used the Layering Vellum Paper to create a vintage look for my cards with some ink blending. The stamped images were coloured with Watercolour Pencils which I just love working with.
I used the Biggest Wish stamp set to create my layered sentiments. Fussy cutting around a large sentiment and layering it makes it really stand out against these scenic images.
For my matching envelope I embellished them in 2 different ways. For the first card I embossed the flap with the Timber Embossing Folder to coordinate with my card. However, the embossing folder didn’t reach right to the top so I used a scrap piece of Mossy Meadow Cardstock to fix that (meant to be!).
For the second card I stamped the image and simply blended Cajun Craze ink lightly over it.
I created a similar card on my weekly Creative Escape FB Live which I hope you enjoy. Please subscribe to my channel to be notified when I go Live.
Thank you for stopping my blog and please leave me a comment as you follow through to visit my friend Angie Mckenzie at Nature’s INKspirations where you are sure to be inspired by her beautiful project.

Do you ever wonder what to do with a stamp set like In the Country from our Sale-A-Bration catalogue? Large images of scenes which you could colour in but sometimes you may not have the time to spend colouring it all in.
A sketch such as this one from Freshly Made Sketches is a great way to highlight sections of a scene and lends itself to creating quick cards.
I stamped the scene twice in Cajun Craze and then die cut various sections using a circle die to form the sketch.
The colour palette was minimal making it a great masculine card.

I’ve got a simple Father’s Day card inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. I used the die cut images from the He’s the Man Designer Series Paper which resulted in a no-stamping card. If you want to make some quick masculine cards then this will be your go-to DSP. Layer up some paper and die cut images and sentiments and you have a card ready to go.
This card with a bbq theme would be perfect for Father’s Day for Dads who love to cook a snag on the barbie.
The panels of DSP were cut to 3cm x 7.5cm and matte onto Cajun Craze Cardstock 10cm x 8cm.
The background diamond elements from the All That Dies were die cut from Crumb Cake Cardstock and sponged with some Cajun Craze ink. Then I heat embossed them with a couple of layers of Clear Embossing Powder which gave it a rusted look. I pulled the thread from the Woven ribbon to create the texture at the back of the die cut circle.

Blessed Sunday to you! Continuing with my ‘Dads’ theme which I’ve been focusing on my Facebook Page this week, I’ve got an outdoor themed card for the Dad who loves camping. The Campology stamp set is a favourite of mine for masculine cards.
I’m playing along with Caseing the Catty Sunday Challenge where we are casing a Christmas Tree project from the July – December 2022 Mini Catalogue, the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue or the Sale-a-bration Catalogue. I’m CASEing this card from Page 14 of the Jul-Dec Mini Catalogue which uses the Regal Reindeer Bundle.
I flipped the card horizontal and used the Tailor Made Tags Dies to blend ink to resemble the project I was CASEing. Blending Parakeet Party and Evening Evergreen with a Blending Brush, I then stamped the trees in Evening Evergreen. I added some embossing pasge to resemble the snow which was in the original card. The Embossing paste picked up the green which was blended under and you can see the stamped trees under the light layer of embossing which adds to the rustic feel of this card.
The kettle and cup images were stamped in Soft Suede and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I stamped the handles twice and fussy cut to attach behind the main image. A strip of the Sale-A-Bration Silver & Gold Foil DSP was added behind the tag in line with the sketch I was CASEing.
At this stage I really wanted to add a bit ‘extra’ and couldn’t go past those leaves from the Stylish Sketches stamp set. This has got to be my favourite Sale-A-Bration product as I just love the images in it. You can get this set FREE with a $90 order.

I’m joining in the Caseing the Catty Sunday Challenge with this card. We could CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) anything from the Mini Catalogue. For my CASE, I chose the card with the Crumb Cake card base on the top right of Page 46 from the Perched in a Tree bundle and copied the layour.
I’ve substituted the bird for a wolf from the Stylish Sketches stamp set. Going for a more wintry look with this card, I created a stencil from Cardstock and blended Granny Apple Green leaves onto Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. Then I added some snow with a water painter and Craft Ink refill.
The leaves were die cut from the Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper and the foil adds a nice contrast against the rustic look of the ribbon and the card.
This was layered onto a Soft Sea Foam card base. The card base is part of a Sale-A-Bration freebie as is the Stylish Sketches stamp set. Each of these products can be earned with a $90 order.
I hope you give this sketch a try and take a look through our catalogues for all the inspiration that’s in them. Orders can be placed online or by contacting me. Remember to keep your orders to $90 so you can take advantage of the freee products on offer.
