Monochromatic Mossy Meadow – Planted Paradise

Today for the Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop we are featuring one of the least used colours in my collection. Poor old Mossy Meadow doesn’t get much of a look in generally but today, it’s front and centre on my card.

When I work with a rather strong colour, I like to tone it down with a softer neutral. In this case – Gray Granite. I really like how these 2 colours blended.

I stamped the leaves onto a label die cut using the Countryside Corners dies. On the base of this I added a piece of Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper and a strip of Basic White Cardstock coloured with Soft Pastels.

How to create the white panel

Use the Mossy Meadow Soft Pastel on the length to drag across the strip of Cardstock, filling it in with the colour. Then turn the Pastel vertical so the small square end is against the Cardstock. Draw lines at varied heights to create an interesting panel.

I created a Faux Suede panel for the background. This is done by scrunching up Cardstock and breaking down the fibres with a bone folder. In time, the Cardstock will peel apart, giving you 2 halves. I’ve used one half on this card and have one left for another project.

A few silver pearls strewn around work in with the Gray Granite and the check DSP.

I hope this project inspires you to perhaps try out a technique you haven’t tried before. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely Saturday.

Monochromatic Berry Burst – Spotlight on Nature

Last weekend we had our Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop. The featured colour was Berry Burst.

I created a card using the Spotlight on Nature stamp set for my focal image which was coloured with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut.

The background Berry Burst Cardstock panel was stamped with the butterfly from the Labeled with Love stamp set in Versamark Ink. This was heat embossed in Clear Embossing Powder. On the top right of this panel, I blended Berry Burst ink for some darker shading.

Using the Perennial Postage dies I die cut a frame from the Berry Burst Designer Series Paper and on the square frame stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black. For some added interest and layering I fussy cut some stamped hexagons from the Bee my Valentine stamp set. I felt this worked really well with the elements on the card and added some nice contrast.

A detailed strip of Glimmer die cut using the Irresistible Blooms dies was added at the back. Silver trim and some pearls finish this card off ‘berry’ nicely.

You can purchase the products used in this card in my Online Store or by getting in touch with me. The best value is to purchase a Starter Kit. Right now until 31st May you can take advantage of our extra value Starter Kit.

For $169 you will get your pick of $235 of product + $144 of In-Color products as pictured below. This is a whopping $379 value for just $169. Plus it’s shipped free to you. Purchase a Starter Kit HERE.

New at SU Blog Hop – 2024-2026 In-Colors with Citrus Blooms

Welcome to the New at SU blog for May. This month our projects will feature the 2024-2026 In-Colors. These 5 colours of Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, Shy Shamrock, Summer Splash and Petunia Pop are a lovely addition to our colour range.

For my card I’m using the Citrus Blooms bundle and featuring Peach Pie and Shy Shamrock from the new In-Colors. I stamped the image in Stazon Black ink on Fluid 100 Cardstock. Using a Water Painter, I coloured the image in.

For the oranges I used Peach Pie and Pumpkin Pie and the leaves were coloured with Soft Sea Foam and Shy Shamrock. I also added some shading with Early Espresso. Around the image I created a light wash with Lemon Lolly. On the flowers I also added some extra details using the Crushed Curry Watercolour Pencil.

Once I die cut the main image, I used the outer area which I had watercoloured with Lemon Lolly to die cut the smaller flowers.

On the White matte, I stamped the sentiment ‘dear friend’ several times in Soft Sea Foam ink. Then I heat embossed the leaves from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set in Basic White. Over this I blended Shy Shamrock ink for an Emboss Resist effect bringing out those leaves.

A label die cut from the Countryside Corners dies was blended with Soft Sea Foam ink. I cut this label and added a small portion of it under the white label. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on the remainder of the ink-blended label which created a cohesive look tying in the elements under the oranges.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and check out my project. Please make sure you follow our hop for lots of great ideas for putting those new colours to use.

AWOW Blog Hop – Sketch with Latte Love Bundle

Awow Blog Hop, Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop Header

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop where we have a sketch challenge for May. This is my favourite type of challenge and I’ve given the Latte Love bundle a bit of a twist with some new products.

If you are new to our blog hop, we are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from different parts of the world and on the 2nd Wednesday of each month we share inspiration with you using our beautiful products centred around a particular theme.

When I selected the Latte Love bundle as the product I wanted to use with this sketch, I didn’t anticipate going in the direction which my project took me. As I started creating, I wanted to create a different look with this mug to those I had previously made. I decided to replicate a beautiful Bone China style mug with watercoloured flowers – similar to something you would use at high tea.

To achieve this I stamped the mug in Crumb Cake ink, stamped off, on Fluid 100 Cardstock. Then I took the floral corner stamp from the Country Flowers stamp set, masked off a section, and stamped the floral image onto the mug with Crumb Cake ink stamped off. Using a Blender Pen, I worked on the watercolouring of the flowers, mug and coffee.

The outline of the stamped image was quite faint and I did improvise a little bit with the flowers and leaves where I couldn’t see the image too well. This didn’t matter as it lent to the watercoloured look I was aiming for.

The handle was stamped separately in Versamark and heat embossed in Gold. Once watercoloured, I attached this to the cup. For the saucer, I used the Round We Go dies, watercolouring the base and adding a Gold embossed centre for a matching set with my cup.

Some leaves from the Citrus Blooms dies fill in around the handle and the sentiment. A simple Gold bow and Pretty in Pink Resin Dots completed my vision for this card.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by my part of the world in Melbourne today and I hope you have been inspired by my card. I would love for you to leave me a comment as you hop through to see Cheryll Miller‘s beautiful project.

Caseing the Catty CTC468 – New Annual Catalogue

Hi friends, Welcome to the Caseing the Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop and this is my first week participating as a crew member. I’m thrilled to have been asked to join the Design Team and am thanksful for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to sharing creative inspiration with you as part of the team.

This week’s challenge is to CASE the Annual Catalogue. With so much inspiration throughout the catalogue it’s a tough choice to pick just one!

After much thought and indecision I settled on this gift box from Page 46 which uses the Thoughtful Journey Suite. My inspiration was the gift tag and the tone-on-tone background.

Tag

I started by blending Soft Sea Foam, Lemon Lime Twist, Shy Shamrock, Summer Splash and Wild Wheat on Basic White Cardstock. Then I added some stripes from the Of Art & Texture stamp set which is part of our Online Exclusives range.

I heat embossed some small flowers in White from the Country Birdhouse stamp set around the Cardstock. Using the Radiating Stitches Dies, I cut a rectangle, then repositioned the die to cut out the tag shape.

Caseing the Catty, CTC468, Case the Annual Stampin' Up!, Catalogue, Ephemera, Layere Florals 3D Embossing Folder, diy card, Heat embossed background, Altering your dies using Radiating Stitches Dies

Some elements from the new Ephemera Packs were added to the card, including the sentiment. These packs provide a variety of ready-to-go images and sentiments.

To depict the tone-on-tone background of the gift packaging, I embossed a piece of Basic Beige Cardsstock with the Layered Florals Embossing Folder. I added a narrow matte layer of White behind the embossed layer to tie in with the White Embossing which also added a subtle contrast. This was added to a Basic Beige Cardstock. New to our colour range, this is a must-have in your stash. It’s a beautiful neutral which I love.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are inspired to CASE a project from the catalogue and share it over the on the Challenge FB page. Next on our hop is Lauren Meiklejohn. Please follow our hop through for more inspiration.

Crafty Challenge Blog Hop – By the Bay Sympathy Card

Hello and welcome to the Crafty Collaborations Crafty Challenge Blog Hop. Today’s challenge is a dice throw and we had to use each of the sides facing up.

I combined this with a Colour Palette challenge I have weekly on my FB page. This colour palette had Tahitian Tide which is an In-Color for just one more day. It retires at the end of today. I felt all the elements would blend well to create a beautiful sympathy card.

The bird was coloured in Watercolour Pencils and added to a tag die cut from the Tailor Made Tags. These dies are retiring and are one of my must-have dies. They are so handy to have whether you create tags or use it as part of another project. .

I used a blender pen to colour in the bottom of the die cut shells from the Seaside Bay dies with Tahitian Tide ink. As for the other colour that came through on the shell – I think there may have been some residue of another ink on my Blender Pen. It worked out well and I love the shading. To colour in the top part of the shell, I inked up the large crab with Tahitian Tide ink and stamped the body over the shell. This gave the shell a mottled appearance.

Some Tahitian Tide In-Color Pearls were added to embellish my card. I like the soft colours of this card with the white space around which brings a sense of calm and works well for a sympathy card.

I hope you have been inspired by this card and I encourage you to create something with this dice throw. Please follow our hop through for more inspiration.
