Hello and welcome to Day 4 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge. I’m thoroughly enjoying myself as I take up each of these challenges. Today it’s my favourite type of challenge – card sketch. Card sketches provide a great starting point which allows you to get creative. They are also great when you find your mind is not as creative as you would like. Grab a card sketch and work with it. It’s amazing how easy it is to create once you have that in place.
I worked with the Peaceful Boughs stamp set for the first time on this card. Now, I know it’s been in a few catalogues but I got it at the end of last season so I hadn’t got around to using it.
I stamped the boughs in Night of Navy onto the Snowflake Splendour Designer Series Paper. Then I decided, in a momentary lapse of concentration, that I was going to fussy cut these out! They are fiddly! So now that I started, I kept going but I didn’t cut out the smaller one out. However, I’m pleased with the effect it gave.
The brass foil die cut boughs were cut apart to resemble the snowflakes in the sketch.
To create the Buffalo Check background I used the Stamparatus to give me optimum clarity on this large stamp. The Stamparatus stamp positioning tool enables you to reink and stamp without worrying about stamp placement. To give it a plaid look, I ruled both vertical and horizontal lines in Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy using both the fine tip and brush tips of the marker.
Some Velveteen pine cones in Highland Heather and Playing with Patterns Resin Dots, add to the coordinated look of this card.
Hope you have enjoyed this card. All the products I have used are listed at the bottom of this post. Click on any to be taken direct to my Online Store.
