Butterfly Elements are some really cute embellishments which are on offer during Sale-A-Bration. As expected there are butterflies but there are also various flowers and different sized leaves which can be used for your projects. The natural look of these really appeal to me but you will see on the second card that there are ways to alter this.
Card 1
This card uses the beautiful Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper – 3 different patterns of it. The black checks adds a nice contrast against the butterflies. I have attached the butterfly element with glue dots. You do need to be careful when removing these off the backing board as they can chip if you put too much pressure on it. Just work your way around it and it just pops out. I’ve layered some ribbons together and added the butterfly on top. The only stamped element is the sentiment. This is a great layout for using up your patterned paper.

Card 2
This card too shows off the beauty of that butterfly paper. How pretty is it? I had some leftover embossed Lemon Lime Twist cardstock so I cut it down and used it under the sentiment. I’ve also made use of the free Organdy Ribbon from Sale-A-Bration. This pack comes in 5 colours so it’s a great item to get as a freebie. I also used the die from the Beautiful Layers set to coordinate the inside of the envelope with the card.
The butterfly is from the Butterfly Elements. I used Black Embossing Powder to achieve this effect. I love the glossy look it gives to it. Using a pair of tweezers to hold onto the edge helps you when using the heat gun. I applied the embossing powder twice to make sure I got every section. That butterfly really stands out against the background and ties in with the paper with the black dots. The black and white options in this paper makes it versatile.

The By the Bay stamp set has got to be one of my favourite items from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. I love the serene images and that house overlooking the water looks so peaceful.
First glance at this stamp set can be a little bit daunting. Well, it was for me anyway because all I could see was colouring. I love colouring and have enjoyed colouring in these images. However, I really wanted to find another way of using it which took less time but still achieved a great result. So this is how today’s card came about.
I stamped the image in Early Espresso ink and distressed the edges with a sponge dauber using Crumb Cake and Early Espresso. This created the vintage feel to the image. Tearing the edges of the Designer Series Paper also gives the aged look. To achieve this in a fairly straight line, hold your left index finger close to the edge of the paper while ripping it with your right hand. This guides the direction of the paper somewhat.
I stamped the shell, coloured it with the Caypso Coral watercolour pencil and fussy cut it before attaching it with liquid glue. This just adds a nice touch of colour along with the Coastal Cabana doily.
The sentiment was embossed with White Embossing Powder on Early Espresso cardstock and gives a bit of the beach feel with the linen thread that I’ve used to ‘hang’ it.
You’ve still got a few days left to get this stamp set FREE during Sale-A-Bration. If you’re not sure what this is all about – ask me for details.

Last week I stamped and die cut lilies in every colour. This stamp is so easy to work with and very effective. Being a Distinktive stamp set, it offers the advantage of a photo like image with a single stamping. How gorgeous are these lilies in Coastal Cabana? Bermuda Bay is a lovely combination with it and the Stitched Circle frame makes those lilies stand out.
The stamp set is free with a $180 order. It is a 2nd tier Sale-A-Bration stamp set as it comes with a lot of sentiments and of course those beautiful lilies.
These and the coordinating dies are only available until Sunday 31st March. Those label dies are great for cutting around the sentiments.
I’ve completed my card with a range of Designer Series Paper. I really liked the look of the light coloured wood with the blue hues. The lilies were curved using a bone folder to take on the shape of the bouquet.
If you would to recreate this card, products required are listed below. Please let me know if I can help you. I would love to hear from you.

Hello crafty friends,
So happy to have you in my life … this is more than just a sentiment on a card. Each of us has special people who we are grateful to have around us and who support and encourage us. I am grateful to each of you who show your support for me by vising my page, subscribing, attending classes and supporting me with your encouragement.
This is a nice large sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set so really no extra work needs to be done but because it’s Step-it-Up Sunday, I have done just that and made extra work!
This stamp set is bundled up with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits dies and if you purchase it as a bundle you save 10%. Those Rectangle Framelits have never made it into my storage box which I keep for my die sets. These have just been sitting on my desk for weeks. That is how often I am using them so I don’t bother putting them back.
As for my colour choice – I wanted to use our retiring In-Colours so I chose Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Fresh Fig. Lemon Lime Twist was a colour that I didn’t particularly like at the start but I really love it now and am going to miss it.
Just a reminder to get your In-Colour refills soon as you can as they generally don’t last long once the retirement list is announced.
Beginner
I used the Painted Seasons Sale-A-Bration stamp set to create the leaf border around the card base.
Then I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink. I didn’t use a Stamparatus however this would definitely make it easier for a beginner stamper. The little tip I have for you when I don’t use my Stamparatus (other than to use it) is, use the coordinating colour in the Stampin’ Write marker to fill in any missing spots. No one will ever know …and yes I’ve done it many times.
I’ve embellished the card using the cute In-Colour flower buttons and the leaves from the Butterfly Elements Sale-A-Bration offering.
Casual
This card has just a few extras added to step it up. I layered the stamped Whisper White panel onto a Basic Black card base. The sentiment was restamped onto Berry Burst cardstock and then cut out and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I coloured the ‘Happy’ with the Powder Pink marker. A couple of simple steps and this card gets some extra colour added to it.
Avid
I used the embossing mats to create the Stitched Rectangle section for my stamped image. Embossing this way gives a lovely framed look.
Embossing Sandwich
This is my preferred method of embossing with dies. This sandwich allows you to see the placement of your die which is important with this technique, especially when creating a card like this where you need the die centred.
This list is from the bottom up. So number 1 is what goes down first at the bottom of your sandwich.
- Big Shot platform
- Impressions Pad (white)
- Silicon Mat (blue)
- Cardstock
- Die -face down
- Big Shot cutting mat
Then I stamped my leaves around the embossed section. I stamped 3 flowers and die cut them. Feeling a bit bad that at this stage I had used all of the In-Colours except Fresh Fig, I incorporated it in my sponging around the edges of my flower to add extra dimension to this flower. I used Brushos Moss Green for the leaves.

Today I have not 1 but 3 cards to share with you. They are easy to recreate and make the most of the lovely Desginer Series Paper. The Happiness Blooms suite is such a bright and happy range. The Double side paper features flowers and designs that coordinate in vibrant colours.
My sketch is very simple with a basic Designer Paper layer at 9.9cm x 14.2cm. I wanted to let these papers stand out so I didn’t embellish much. I have added a panel which has been die cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelit dies and then embossed with the Dot to Dot embossing folder.
The sentiment is from the Part of my Story stamp set. I won this at Prize Patrol at November On Stage, which is a fun event for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. However I hadn’t opened it as yet. These sentiments seemed to match with the fun generated in this suite so I thought this was the day to use them.
Each card has been accented differently. For this first card, I just fussy cut one of the flowers from the paper itself and attached it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To create extra interest on this card, I used the Bitty Blooms punches and layered flowers in Night of Navy and Petal Pink. Punches are so quick and a fun way to create. I think this is such a fun sentiment and would be suitable to send someone you haven’t caught up with a while or someone who just needs some cheering up. With those bright colours (how about that Pineapple Punch?) it is definitely going to boost someone’s spirits.
This sentiment has been punched and layered onto Pineapple Punch labels from the Story Label punch. This is a Sale-A-Bration coordination item and is only available until 31st March. – That’s only 11 days away. Free products also are only available for these few days so hurry to grab yourself some fabulous items.
How cute is that punch? Punches are the best for easy and quick papercrafting, you can’t go past them.
