Candy Cane Background Christmas Card
Day 3 of Martin’s Mayhem #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge and it’s all about a Candy Cane Christmas. This brings images in my mind of children, fun and lots of Christmas cheer. Of course there is that thing about stripes – red, green and white or how about some pink and red?
I went with the traditional stripes and I knew exactly which paper I wanted to start off with. The beautiful Red Velvet paper. This has such a luxurious feel and yes, I did struggle to cut it because it’s so soft and pretty! So starting off with little strips eased me into it.
I used Mint Macaron Designer Series Paper from our Subtles DSP range and Shaded Spruce cardstock along with the velvet paper to create my candy cane stripes. Each of the colours was cut at a different width for added interest and I glued it onto Whisper White cardstock.
As I wanted the candy cane background to stand out, I kept the rest of the card fairly simple. The 2.5 cm wide Shaded Spruce ribbon across the front looked like a gift bow. It ties a bow so beautifully. I added the sentiment from the For Unto Us stamp set embellishing it with some Real Red Wonderful Gems.
I am really enjoying these challenges and I hope you are enjoying the cards I’m making. I’m a day behind so you may even get an extra one on the weekend as I play catch up. I hope to see you back here very soon. For a full list of products I’ve used, please scroll down to the end of this post.
Join me this Sunday for a FB live at 2pm where I will show you how to create my card from Day 1 of this challenge. View the card here.
