Baby Wipe Technique – Magnolia Mood Bundle

Last week I tried out a variation on the Baby Wipe Technique and created a range of backgrounds. I played around with various colours and came up with a few different options. For this particular base I used Bubble Bath, Highland Heather and Melon Mambo.

You will need a couple of baby wipes which you fold into 1/8 (roughly) to form a small ink pad. Drop the ink refill colour of your choice onto the baby wipe. Gentle wipe it in circular motion onto a piece of Fluid 100 Cardstock. Apply the colour to different sections.

Continue with the other colours until you get a blended look.

Freshly Made Sketches, FMS629

I’ve followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #fms629 and used the Magnolia Mood bundle to complete my card.

Stamping the image in Stazon ink, I watercoloured the image with a range of ink refills including Shy Shamrock which is part of the 2024-2026 In-Color range.

For the top part of the sketch I fussy cut a piece of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper. Under it I added an embossed piece of White Cardstock which had been die cut with the Gorgeously Made dies. On the Thick White card base, I added another piece of White Cardstock exactly the same size which was embossed with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder. I find that embossing the card base can warp the card front so I prefer to add that extra layer.

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop – Harvest Time

Welcome to our Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop for our Harvest Time theme. This was a little bit tricky for me as I didn’t have much Fall/Autumn/Harvest selection of stamps – I told you I need more stamps! I had Nature’s Harvest Bundle and Seasons of Fun which has 1 image that would have worked. Some leaves would have been nice but I worked around what I had and decided to go with the Nature’s Harvest stamp set, focussing on the colours of harvest and autumn.

The idea that first formed in my mind was the Baby Wipe Technique. So I started by adding drops of Bumblebee, Pale Papaya, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze ink refills onto a folded baby wipe which acted as my ink pad. Using the fill-in stamp in the Nature’s Harvest stamp set, I stamped several times onto a piece of Basic White Cardstock to cover the surface. This created a lovely multi-coloured piece which I die cut the wheat from.

I was able to create a few more background pieces with my make-shift ink pad with the ink left on it. For one of these pieces, I took the baby wipe and swiped right down the piece of White Cardstock – top to bottom and then bottom to top to ensure even coverage of colour. This piece was used for the background of my card.

I added some detail to this background piece with the Dry Brush stamp. It adds an extra textured look to the piece.

I used the largest of the Stitched Rectangles to die cut this piece however it didn’t form an even border around the card, leaving it short at the bottom. There was 2 ways I could get around it. One was cutting the card base down and the second, which I chose, was to add a strip of Designer Series Paper at the bottom. I like the contrast it added.

The sentiment was stamped on Pale Papaya and die cut with a label from one of my favourite sets of dies – Tasteful Labels. Again, I used the fill-in stamp I used earlier and stamped it in Cajun Craze stamped off 3 times, to achieve a very light image around the sentiment. To get the darker edging around the circle, I inked up the stamp and brushed it against the edge as you would with a sponge dauber, creating a more defined edge.
