Step-it-Up Sunday #10 Bird Cage

Hope your week has been a good one. I was a bit unwell but on the mend now and all set for May. It’s going to be an eventful month.  Customers get the opportunity to pre purchase the Share What You Love products and bundles …. so exciting. I’ll be hosting an afternoon tea to raise funds for Australia’s Biggest Morning tea towards cancer research. Lots of classes. Good times.

i used the bird cage from the Badges & Banners stamp set but I covered up the image of the bird with this butterfly from Butterfly Basics which has been stamped in Tempting Turquoise and fussy cut. The bird cage has been mounted with Dimensionals. The Basic card is mainly stamping.

The Intermediate card has a bit more stamping and I’ve also added a flower and ribbon. To create the flower, I punched 3 pansies from the Wood Textures DSP. I then stamped the script from Background Bits on the flowers and sponged them with Chocolate Chip. The centre part of the flower is a flower from Sweet Cake Framelits. The blue pearl is one of our Metal Rimmed Pearls which I have coloured in with Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Think of all the coloured pearls you could have – in any colour choice to suit your project!

For the advanced card I changed the border by stamping a strip of cardstock and heat embossing the border in Copper. I have embosssed the sentiment on vellum in Copper embossing powder. I used the heat tool on setting 1 so as not to burn the vellum.

I also die cut some leaves from the Sweet Cake Framelits and added it in. To stiffen the ribbon, I embossed it in Clear embossing powder a couple of times making sure both sides of the ribbon were well coated. Then I scrunched it up and randomly stamped the dots in Versamark, added Copper embossing powder and heat embossed. This gave it an aged look. To make it stay put on the card I have added very small bits of double sided tape.
