Simple Sketch with Cherish the Season Stamp Set

Day 28 of the #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge is a colour challenge with Real Red, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. I love using the neutral shades in the Stampin’ Up! colour range. They provide a great base for cards and can help to soften strong colours.

I first chose the ‘Tis the Season Designer Series Paper for the Real Red component to match my Basic Gray card base. I die cut this with the Layering Squares die set which has coordinating sizes that work with the Stitched Shapes Dies. This card sketch is nice and simple and would be a great card to making multiples of.

I stamped some pine leaves in Smoky Slate and layered this on Real Red cardstock to create a contrast against the crisp White background. A die cut Silver ornament keeps this card simple yet elegant. For some added texture, I layered the sentiment on Red Velvet Paper.

A Heavy Metal Christmas!

It’s not the remix of an old Christmas carol but the cardmaking version of Heavy Metal! Day 22 of Martin’s Mayhem #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge was a Contemporary Christmas and yes, again I was scratching my head. I looked at the small print (always check the small print, they say!) in the image below. No fuddy duddy stuff, think about what’s ‘in’. What better way to go than an ‘In-Colour’ because they are definitely ‘in’!

I wanted quite a modern look with sleek lines. I did some investigation into what was trending on the interior design realm. Some metallics seem to be out there and our foil range with Cinnamon Cider was going to work so well for this challenge.

I added 4 equal sized strips of Gold, Silver, Brass and Champagne foil on an Early Espresso cardstock panel. Then I layered this on the Cinnamon Cider card base. A strip of Cinnamon Cider Velveteen was attached on one side which creates a focal point for the ornament.

Hope you have enjoyed my contemporary twist on Christmas. Drop by tomorrow for more cardmaking inspiration.
