Hello and welcome to the Crafty Collaborations Crafty Challenge Blog Hop. Today’s challenge is a dice throw and we had to use each of the sides facing up.
I combined this with a Colour Palette challenge I have weekly on my FB page. This colour palette had Tahitian Tide which is an In-Color for just one more day. It retires at the end of today. I felt all the elements would blend well to create a beautiful sympathy card.
The bird was coloured in Watercolour Pencils and added to a tag die cut from the Tailor Made Tags. These dies are retiring and are one of my must-have dies. They are so handy to have whether you create tags or use it as part of another project. .
I used a blender pen to colour in the bottom of the die cut shells from the Seaside Bay dies with Tahitian Tide ink. As for the other colour that came through on the shell – I think there may have been some residue of another ink on my Blender Pen. It worked out well and I love the shading. To colour in the top part of the shell, I inked up the large crab with Tahitian Tide ink and stamped the body over the shell. This gave the shell a mottled appearance.
Some Tahitian Tide In-Color Pearls were added to embellish my card. I like the soft colours of this card with the white space around which brings a sense of calm and works well for a sympathy card.
I hope you have been inspired by this card and I encourage you to create something with this dice throw. Please follow our hop through for more inspiration.
This or That? I wonder what you will pick in our challenge today? It’s the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop (AWOW for short) and this month we are sharing not just 1 but 2 projects with our This or That April challenge.
It could be different orientations of the same layout, perhaps different colours, alternate Designer Series Papers, different colouring mediums – the possibilities are endless. I’ve chosen the new Country Flowers bundle from the upcoming 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue for my This or That projects and went with varied interior decor styles.
We need YOU to participate today by commenting and letting us know whether you pick This or That!
THIS – SHABBY CHIC
For my first project I went with a shabby chic style with soft pinks and white. I used Watercolour Pencils to colour in my image.
Of course there had to be a doily in there for a beautiful country look. On top of that I added some Cardstock which I had treated with Embossing Paste I coloured with Pretty in Pink. First I applied a layer with a Palette Knife and then I added more paste through a mask. Once it dried I used my finger to dab on a little more ink over the panel. This was then torn to create a rustic look.
THAT – COASTAL
When I saw this particular background I immediately though of the beach. I’ve kept the layout the same as the previous card. Alternating the leaves for the flowers fit the coastal vibe and colours.
Along with the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, I’ve also used the new So Swirly Embossing Folder. Keep an eye out for this Embossing Folder in the new releases. It’s a large 6″ x 8 1/2″ (15.2 x 21.6 cm). I added the surfboard and life buoy from the Beach Day bundle for an extra beachy feel.
I will be recreating this particular card on my FB Live tonight at 7:30 AEST. Replay will also be available on YouTube later on today.
Now, it’s your turn to let me know what your favourite is. I can’t wait to hear your selection. As for me, I don’t know what my favourite is 😂 as I really enjoyed creating them both.
Thank you so much for stopping by my corner of the world in Melbourne. I hope you enjoy all the beautiful inspiration you are going to be treated to today as you travel Around the World with us.
Next on our hop is my friend Cheryll Miller and I know she will have something amazing to share with you.
Hello and welcome to a very fun New at SU Blog Hop. This month we are stepping it up with products from our January – April Mini Catalogue. We are creating a simple stamping project and then using the same products to step it up for an avid crafter.
I’ve chosen the Beach Day bundle which is very much in season here in Australia and created 3 versions of a card which is suitable for whatever level of crafting you are at right now – or dependent or the time you have to create!
CASUAL
The Delightful Floral Designer Series Paper provides a ready made shaded background for this card. Repeated stamping and a bit of ink blending make this a quick and easy card to make. Colouring was minimal with the surfboard coloured in just Calypso Coral and fussy cut to create a feature on the card.
Tips to keep it simple
Use your Designer Series Paper for maximum effect
Use just a few colours
AVID
I stepped this card up by colouring the other 2 surfboardsa and adding the die cut element of the wave. The sentiment was stamped on a separate piece of cardstock which coordinated with the Azure Afternoon card base and the layout was slightly changed to accommodate the wave border.
ARTFULLY AVID
A bit like the ‘burger with the lot’, the Artfully Avid card tends to add more technique into the mix. I’ve incorporated a bit more die cutting and lots more layers and detail.
I added more ink blending which really makes those surf boards look like they are on an Aussie beach. A cute die cut sandcastle incorporates the elements from my previous cards to give continuity to the step-it-up theme.
I hope you have enjoyed what I’ve shared today and see the possibilities of what you can create with your products. Please make sure to visit all our other team members to see how they step-it-up with their chosen products.

I love this combination of Pretty Peacock, Coastal Cabana and Lemon Lolly and it inspired me to create this coastal card. I began with watercolouring the strip of shells on Fluid 100 cardstock. Then I fussy cut around the image to create the shell border adding some ‘sea foam’ with Embossing Paste. This is such a fun product to create beautiful texture. On top of this I added a strip of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper which I cut along the guide of the printed torn paper. This added to the textured look of the waves.
With the Rays of Light stamp set I created a two-tone background of Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock. The base layer was blended with Lemon Lolly ink for some sunshine.
The sentiment had an open centre which needed something and using the Radiating Stiches Dies I created a sun which I coloured with a Blending Brush. A few little shells were die cut from Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper. This gave them some lovely (and easy) shading and finished the card off well.

Don’t you love the soft colours of Colour Palette #9? It includes Lemon Lolly, a pretty yellow from our new range. I created a minimalist card to feature these pretty colours.
I’ve used the new Circle Sayings bunde and stamped the image twice in Balmy Blue and Lost Lagoon, fussy cutting part of it to layer the waves. This bundle has a range of sentiments and images which are great for creating quick cards.
The background has been created with the Rays of Light stamp set which is one I had been wanting for a while. I finally ordered it. The markings on the rays give it such a rustic look and added some white heat embossing along the edges to create a look of sea foam.
