aWow Blog Hop – Favourite Inspiration
Hi crafty friend,
Welcome to our first Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop for 2021. I always look forward to this blog hop as we have some fun and unique themes to work with. Our general theme for this month is Our Favorite Inspiration Source with a specific focus on the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog and January-February 2021 Sale-a-Bration products. Chris Smith, one of our team members, came up with this fun idea.
There are so many things than can inspire me – the beautiful work of other crafters, Pinterest (yes, I too do spend way more time than I should on it!), current home decor, seasons, colours. However, the one thing that inspires me the most is our Stampin’ Up! catalogues. These catalogues are pages and pages of inspiration. Countless times I go to it to get sketch ideas, colour combinations (like who would think of Real Red and Flirty Flamingo?), techniques, class ideas.
Just last week, I was in a complete creative shut down and couldn’t get anything happening in the craft room so I pulled out the Mini Catalogue and did a complete CASE of a card. This got me out of a creative rut.
Something else that can inspire my creativity are sketches. I LOVE card sketches or layouts. These just help me in my creative process. So today, I’ve combined both and picked a sketch from the new Mini Catalogue for my cards.
I’ve CASEd the ‘happily ever after’ card from Page 10 and used the Berry Blessings Stamp Set and Berry Delightful DSP. These 2 products are a free bundle which can be earned until 28th February with a $180 order.
I love this bright and cheerful Designer Series Paper which combines with the sentiments of the Sweet Strawberry stamp set to create such fun cards. This stamp set is a two-step stamp set but as I had run out of Poppy Parade ink refill, I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour the strawberries in. I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizzazz, adding a bit of extra colour with the Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends to tie in with the colouring used on the strawberries.
The vellum softens the strength of those Poppy Parade checks. I added a head embossed sentiment on Basic Black cardstock to pop against the bright colours.
This next card uses the Berry Blessings stamp set and I used the same card sketch. Just changing the stamp and the DSP sheet can alter the entire look of the card. I embossed the Vellum with the Painted Texture Embossing Folder to create a different look to my first card.
I hope you have been inspired by my cards to use your catalogues as a tool for getting lots of creative ideas. Thank you for stopping by my blog today and make sure to check out all the other beautiful projects made by the ladies on our team. Next on our hop is Cheryll Miller.
