Mar 10, 2020 | Birthday, Fancy Fold Cards |
This fancy fold card wasn’t a card for a 110 year old. So what’s your guess?
A friend of mine requested me to make a card for her best friend who was turning 55 but she was a twin. There’s a standard joke between the twins that they are celebrating a combined birthday. So… this year they were 110!
I have made this type of fancy fold card several times but have had no idea what this was called. So I went to the most reliable source – Pinterest! It’s a Double Front Flap Fancy Fold Card. If it’s not, just let me know! This card was for the best friend’s twin. It’s been a little while since I’ve used the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper and the 12″x12″ paper was ideal for decorating this large A5 card. This paper is great for fussy cutting with images of birds, feathers, bird cages – lots to embellish projects with.
The Nested Label on the inside of the card aligns with the label that is on the outside.
For my friend’s best friend, the brief was – she likes irises and labradors. So I hurriedly pulled out a retired iris stamp and got to work. There were several retired products used on this card but I thought it was a bit of fun and I wanted to share it with you. I also used the Happy Tails stamp set and Dog Builder punch which are very cute current products. This was such a cute sentiment for a bestie who loves dogs.
The Designer Series Paper and ribbon are from the 2019 Sale-A-Bration range. Sale-A-Bration 2020 is still on friends. Don’t miss out on the last few weeks where you can get a free product with every $90 order.

I’ve got a note card set for you today using a lovely set of Scalloped Note Cards and Envelopes from the new cataloue.
Both the envelopes and note cards have a dainty scalloped edging and there are 5 each of Balmy Blue, Old Olive, Light Pink and Terracotta Tile. This gives you 20 note cards and envelopes for $14.00 which makes it .70 cents a set.
Decorating these were easy with the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. The colours were just perfect for these note cards. I used the same simple layout on all the cards.
The other day I spent a bit of time fussy cutting several images from these papers. I mixed and matched the birds with my cards today.
I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut my frames. For the bottom layer I first tried Basic Black but felt that was too harsh so opted for Basic Gray and liked this much better as it was a softer look.
First card is Old Olive and I’ve added the lovely floral paper on the base.
This is the Light Pink card and for my die cut square I used Petal Pink which coordinated with the paper I had used for the background. Are you loving the designs on the paper as much as I am?
Terracotta Tile card base but I did my die cut square in Calypso Coral. Can you tell? Someone didn’t read the back of the pack very well!
A Balmy Blue card with a pretty blue bird to match.
The Gingham Gala sequins came in just the right colours to embellish these 4 cards. Stampin’ Up! are spot on for coordination. I used the Itty Bitty Birthdays and Detailed with Love (retired but I had missed moving it out of my currents) stamp sets for the sentiments to cover a variety of occasions.
All products used to create these quick cards are listed below, where you can shop at my online store or contact me to place an order.
