Hello everyone,
My inspiration today is a sketch challenge from the Fab Friday Challenge Blog and … wait for it…. International cat day. We have a rescue cat, Toulouse and she’s been with us 2 years now.
I picked Smoky Slate as my base card and created a layer on top with the Button Button embossing folder. I chose this folder because it reminded me of Toulouse as sometimes she can be a bit nuts and loves to get in my box of ribbons and craft stuff.
The cat was punched out of Rococo Rose Designer Series Paper.
I die cut the circle and stamped the sentiment. Then I layered the gingham cat on top of the ribbon and felt border from the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit. The cute felt flower around kitty’s neck is also from this kit which comes with several embellishments in Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana and Crushed Curry.

The Follow Your Art suite in the Annual Catalogue has got every type of craft and crafter covered. Sewing, painting, colouring, drawing, stamping, hot glue gun lover, stationery collecter – there’s something for everyone.
The Designer Series Paper has images of tools and products used in these crafts on one side and the other side has fun and creative designs. Coordinating colours are Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, Whisper White.
Both the cards are in the Pacific Point and Calypso Coral colour combination and feature the spools of ribbon. With a die that cuts out these ribbons it’s easy to create a variety of coloured ribbons for your cards. I love the cute heart that is formed by the ribbon.
This first card follows a very simple layout and is a great for the Beginner cardmaker as it’s a simple sketch to follow. I’ve created 2 halves in my card with the bottom half a little bit larger than the top. I’ve added the beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the images of the ribbon on the top half and then added the embossed Crushed Curry panel at the bottom.
A strip of Coastal Cabana cardstock across the centre ties the 2 halves together. I also stamped my sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink on it.
To colour in the ribbons I used some Stampin’ Write Markers. There are colours to match every ink Stampin’ Up! have and this makes coordination so easy.
Tip:
Use scrap cardstock strips to create a border between layers or to stamp sentiments on.

For my next card I used the Button Button embossing folder on the Pacific Point cardstock. You can see the lovely detail of this embossing folder and it adds great texture to these cards.
You probably know that I love layering cardstock and paper. This creates depth and makes layers pop such as the paintbrush paper on this card. The paper clip is from the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit. This embellishment kit contains lovely felt elements in Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana and Crushed Curry, paper clips, linen thread, silver charms – everything to coordinate with your Follow Your Art projects.
