In the Country for fms568

Do you ever wonder what to do with a stamp set like In the Country from our Sale-A-Bration catalogue? Large images of scenes which you could colour in but sometimes you may not have the time to spend colouring it all in.

A sketch such as this one from Freshly Made Sketches is a great way to highlight sections of a scene and lends itself to creating quick cards.

I stamped the scene twice in Cajun Craze and then die cut various sections using a circle die to form the sketch.

The colour palette was minimal making it a great masculine card.

I chose to add a vertical sentiment along with the Metallic Dots to draw the eye down over the 3 scenes.

You can choose the In the Country stamp set FREE when you spend $90 on an order during the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration promotion.

Joy of Sets Blog Hop – Reading is Fonts-amental

Welcome to Stamping Flair in Melbourne. So glad that you are able to stop over at my blog on this Sunday morning. We have a very interesting theme in the Joy of Sets Blog Hop this month. Reading is FONTS-amental.

Joy of Sets Blog Hop, FONTS-Amental, Stampin' Up!

Fonts on projects can set the scene and I did have to do a little bit of thinking for this one as I wanted to capture the ‘Fonts’ in a special way. Was I going to have a sentiment with an interesting font or create multi-coloured letters? There were several choices. I decided on creating an interesting background with fonts.

My card started today with my idea of using the Stampin’ Up! Camouflage stamp set.  As you can see, there is not one bit of font on this stamp so I worked around it. A scrap of copy paper I had on my desk was my next tool in getting together a fun idea I had in my mind. However, I needed to find the write sentiment for it. I settled on a sentiment from the Silhouette Scenes stamp set

I tore the edge of the piece of copy paper so it was uneven and then made another piece the same. This formed my mask for stamping. I just held it lightly in place and stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso right down the cardstock, varying the placement of the sentiment. Then I stamped the trees in Pear Pizzazz over this.

Some trees from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, inked in Pear Pizzazz and edged with Mossy Meadow has been added on top. I coloured the copper kettle and mug in Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends, adding some shading with the Light So Saffron Stampin’ Blend.

For some extra ‘fontness’ I added a banner die cut from the map in the World of Good Designer Series Paper. I like how this tied in with my ‘Happy Trails’ sentiment – perfect for someone who is about to have an adventure.

Some linen thread and wood leaf embellishments complete this card inspired by nature.

Pretty in Pink Globe #gdp250

I’ve got another card for you today using the fabulous Beautiful World bundle by Stampin’ Up!  When I get a stamp set, bundle or suite, I always like to try and work out alternate colour schemes. This gives me more creative options than the ones that already come with the suite.

So I’ve gone with pinks for this card. I just loved creating the watercoloured globe. I used our stamp positioning tool, the Stamparatus to add colour using a sponge dauber. Firsty, I added Calypso Coral randomly over the globe stamp then I lightly spritzed with water and stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock. I repeated this process with the Magenta Madness ink.

Both the Designer Series Paper and the Whisper White cardstock have been embossed with the Old World embossing folder. I stamped the trees from the Campology stamp set in Rococo Rose, stamped off, to create a soft background on the Whisper White panel.

The ‘friend’ sentiment was die cut 3 times in Whisper White and once in Basic Black cardstock. The top Whisper White layer was coloured with sponge daubers using Calypso Coral and Magenta Madness inks to coordinate with the rest of my card. All the sentiment layers were adhered together with glue, with the Basic Black layer slight offset to create a shadow.

My card has been inspired by the sketch challenge at Global Design Project. Make sure you check out all the other lovely projects using this sketch.

Ink. Stamp. Share Blog Hop – Other Celebrations

Great to have you stop by my blog, Stamping Flair today. Welcome to the Ink. Stamp. Share blog hop for July where we are sharing projects focusing on projects other than birthdays.

I picked something a little bit different as I thought of students who would be finishing the school year in a few months. Generally, this would involve some travel but that’s not to be at the moment. However, I created a card with ‘Bon Voyage’ theme for a traveller using the World of Good suite.

My card started with the beautiful Designer Series Paper as the base for my layout. The Brass Foil detail and the vintage look just adds so much character to projects. Next I die cut the globe from Sahara Sand cardstock, leaving all the pieces in place. I used double sided tape at the back to hold it all together.

A label from the Hippo & Friends Dies embossed with one of the dies from the World Map dies adds more texture. To create the feather I inked the stamp with Seaside Spray and sponged the edges with Misty Moonlight. Then I spritzed the stamp with water and stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock. This gives a lovely water colour look. Instead of using the die to cut it out, I fussy cut it, feathering the edges using my Paper Snips.

I think the Campology stamp set coordinates well the Beautiful World stamp set with it’s outdoor elements and the binoculars were just what I needed for this card. Now camping is definitely not me but I just love this stamp set. Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends was used to colour the binoculars and then I fussy cut them out.

I hope you have enjoyed my card using these outdoor style stamp sets. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you liked. Follow the blog hop through for more great inspiration for all the various occasions in your lives. Click on the Next button to see Laura Mackie’s beautiful project.
