Feb 14, 2021 | Birthday, Blog Hops |
I’m going beach side for our February Colour Combo Blog Hop. When I saw the colours of this challenge, it just made me think of the seaside, shells and waves.
For this challenge I have taken inspiration from the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.
The background for this card uses the Faux Letterpress Technique using the Seabed Embossing Folder with Soft Sea Foam ink.
The Friends are Like Seashells bundle goes hand in hand with the Seashells Embossing Folder. The fine detail of the embossing fits perfectly into the large diecut. I cut the shells apart and sponged Pacific Point and Flirty Flamingo over them to create the centre image. Then I spritzed it with Frost White Shimmer Paint.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my beachy creation. If you’d like to learn the faux letterpress technique, join me at 7:30 PM tonight for my Facebook Live where I’ll be showing you how to create it.

Many of us have grown up with chalkboards during our schooling and the screeching sound of chalk against the chalkboard is one we’d rather forget! Today’s #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge is a Chalkboard Christmas. Although, there are alternate ways to interpret this, I went with the traditional black chalkboard.
Heat embossing the sentiment from Wrapped in Christmas helped it to stand out against the black whilst still creating the chalkboard effect.
I used the Whisper White ink pad to add some chalk dust on my Chalkboard.
I also used this ink to go over the embossing on my card base which added to the chalk feel of the card.
The reindeer was heat embossed in White on Crumb Cake cardstock. I then coloured it in completely with the Whisper White Watercolour pencil. Then I went over parts of the image with Early Espresso and a touch of Daffodil Delight. I added a panel of plaid paper from Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper behind my layered chalkboard. I love the Christmas feel it gives.
The sprig of leaves was stamped in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White cardstock which I coloured in Old Olive, Basic Gray and Whisper White Watercolour pencils. Then I used the Basic Black pencil to fill in all the white space to resemble the chalkboard look. Finally, I added Whisper White ink with a sponge dauber to soften the edges which coordinated with my chalkboard sentiment.
