Sketchtember Challenge – Day 13 Good Feelings

It’s day 13 of my Sketchtember Challenge where I’m celebrating my birthday month with my favourite type of challenge – sketches!

My card has been inspired by this photo challenge at Just Add Ink Challenges JAI620. I loved the background on this photo and wanted to replicate the lighter look in the centre getting darker towards the outer edges. When I saw the photo I immediately thought ‘sunflowers’ (it was obviously my bad eyesight!) but I went with it because of the bright yellows.

The photo background had a blended look and I created that on the Cardstock by using Belnding Brushes and adding Tahitian Tide and Starry Sky ink onto Tahitian Tide Cardstock. Then I added Starry Sky through a mask to resemble the faint pattern you can see at the base of the inspiration photo.

I received the Good Feelings stamp set in a Swag Box during a Stampin’ Up! online event and hadn’t used it until this card. I chose one of the larger images to use for the focal point of my sketch. The sentiment was heat embossed in White and then I blended over it with Tahitian Tide which brought out the sentiment.

The sunflower was coloured with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut to resemble the yellow flowers in the inspiration photo.

You could try out this card sketch and swap out the sentiment panel for some DSP or a stamped image and add a sentiment in place of the flower. I love the many ways you can interpret sketches and inspiration photos and get creative.

Awow Blog Hop – Monochrome Rainbow Challenge

AWOW Blog Hop Header

Welcome to another fun blog hop from the team at Around the World on Wednesday. How clever is our awesome leader – Angie Mckenzie? She comes up with the best challenges. Today, around the world, we are forming a rainbow. We have some special guests hopping with us today so you will enjoy lots of monochromatic projects. I can’t wait to see what everyone has created.

The rainbow has been divided according to Time Zone so I’m in the yellows with a bit of black and white added to the mix. Here’s the breakdown of colours around the world.

I started off by creating the background by watercolouring a piece of Shimmery White cardstock with Mango Melody ink. Once dry, I stamped the Very Versailles vine in Bumblebee ink over the entire piece. Then I die cut it using the Many Medallions die. The Basic White matte has been embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder which is retiring. This has been one of my most used folders and is great for creating linen-look backgrounds.

The sunflower was coloured using a combination of So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. The Celebrate Sunflowers dies come with a die for the large flower as well as an outline die. The detailed outline added more definition and I liked this look against the True Love Designer Series Paper which I can’t seem to get away from.

To create the embossed sentiment, I inked the stamp in Versamark ink and then in Tuxedo Black, after which I heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

Stamp N’ Hop – 2020 In Colours

Hi,

Welcome to my blog Stamping Flair today. I’m participating with other demonstrators around the world in the Stamp N’ Hop blog hop.  I am located in Melbourne, Australia . Today, we are showing projects highlighting our new In-Colours.

I kept to a simple layout for my cards which feature the Celebrate Sunflowers bundle

The sunflower was heat embossed in white on coloured cardstock and die cut with the coordinating die.

Magenta Madness, Bumble Bee cards

I layered the 2020-2020 In-Colour Designer Series Paper behind it to really showcase our 5 beautiful In-Colours.

Thank you for visiting me today and I hope to see you back soon. Click on the Next button to follow on to Jill Chapman’s blog.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

If you do some gardening, you’re doing a whole lot better than me. I love looking at gardens and admire beautiful gardens but green thumb, I am not. However, the Garden Shed stamp set got me the moment I saw it. I told you, I love looking at gardens – ok, a garden shed in this case!

I have also included some fabulous new products on this card. I’d like to introduce you to Just Jade – one of the new In-Colours. The garden shed image has been layered onto a Just Jade cardstock panel. I think this might be my favourite of the 5 new In-Colours.

To colour the stamped image, I used a combination of several Stampin’ Blends. In my product list at the bottom of this post, I’ve listed the colours I’ve used on the shed and the flower. Just get a feel when you’re colouring and you will find it is so relaxing. if you’re anything like me, you’ll end up adding a bit of this and a bit of that and coming up with a new colour. The sunflower is from the new Celebrate Sunflowers bundle. This is the baby flower in the set. There’s a Mama one as well which would take up a whole card front and is absolutely gorgeous.

Hand stamped Garden Shed Birthday card

I couldn’t help but use a strip of corrugated cardstock for a rustic feel. This Corrugated embossing folder is retiring and you are going to want to get your hands on it if you don’t own it. It’s one I have used many times as I love it. I’ve added a strip of ribbon trim, coloured with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend to highlight the sentiment.
