Team Coastal or Team Traditional – what will I pick for this month’s Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop? I’m Team Christmas in whatever colour it comes in but for this challenge I had to go with coastal charm.
The Around the World on Wednesday blog hop team are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from different areas of the world. On the 2nd Wednesday of each month we share inspiration based on a particular theme.
Here in Melbourne, Christmas is typically warm and summery, a stark contrast to the snowy scenes many associate with the season. Living just a 5-minute walk from the beach makes the coastal theme feel even more fitting for my lifestyle. The coastal palette included pink! As you might know, pink is my absolute favourite, so how could I resist?
The Winterly Tree Tops bundle was sitting on my desk so I thought let’s go with some tropical birds for my coastal Christmas card. The birds were watercoloured in Summer Splash and Granny Apple Green and some Azure Afternoon highlights.
Around the birds I added some die cuts from the Seaside Wishes, Charming Duck Pond and Flowers of Beauty dies to work in with my beachy theme. Some Flirty Flamingo adds the touch of pink to my card.
I also added some fussy cut logs from the Otterly Adorable Designer Series Paper with the foliage hiding the printed otters. Of course a Christmas card wouldn’t be complete without some Glimmer Paper and a generous brushing of Wink of Stella on the birds.
Many of the products I have used on this card are part of bundles that are discounted in our Seasonal Sale which runs from 13th – 15th November. A product list is below to assist you with selecting products.
I hope you have been inspired with my mish mash of products. Let me know—do you love the laid-back charm of coastal Christmas colours, or do you prefer the classic traditional hues? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
Next on our hop you will be visiting Danielle Kassing in the Netherlands. Be sure to follow the hop through for lots of inspiration. I know I’m looking forward to seeing what my friends have chosen for their colour palette.

Happy Saturday friends! I’ve chosen the Sophisticated Sled bundle to focus on Balmy Blue for this week’s Monochromatic Challenge with with Crafty Collaborations team. Each week we have an Insta Hop and several of us share inspiration using one colour. Visit my Instagram profile to see more.
The Sophisticated Sled bundle has sat permanently on my desk since it arrived a couple of weeks ago. For today’s creation, I wanted to capture the feeling of snow and ice which was inspired by Balmy Blue or in this case ‘ice blue’ for my wintry card.
I began with the stunning snowflake edge border from the Frozen Edges dies. Isn’t it just gorgeous? The intricate detail it brings to the card is simply beautiful. I splattered a little Wink of Stella on the right panel for a subtle shimmer that reminds me of glistening snow. To finish it off, I stamped the sentiment in Pecan Pie ink, adding a touch of warmth against the cool winter palette.
These panels were added to a Balmy Blue matte layer which I blended with Balmy Blue ink on the left side. This showed through darker under the snowflakes and created a contrast against the white.
I kept the sled white and added a Pecan Pie base. Some die cut glimmer garlands were added on top. These were coloured with the Dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend and it added such a beautiful subtle shading, again creating that look of ice I was wanting.
The skates were die from White Cardstock and coloured with a light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend with the laces and blades die cut from Crumb Cake Cardstock. I added some shading at the bottom of the blades with the dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend. There are 3 dies that form the skates – the main skate, the blades and the laces. This makes it really easy to create the different coloured parts to build up your skates.
I added an Iridescent bow and a bow from Balmy Blue Baker’s twine which created beautiful texture at the top of the sled and gave this card a real festive look. A sprinkling of Drusy Embellishments are perfect for this wintry card.
I hope you you have enjoyed this card and consider adding this beautiful bundle to your next order. A supply list is below and can be ordered from my Online Store or by getting in contact with me. Need help starting out in papercrafting? Please contact me and I’d love to help you.

Today’s Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop features Soft Sea Foam. This green is one of my favourite colours and is from our Subtles Collection. Resisting the obvious choice of going leaves, I went with creating my own Christmas gifts for this challenge.
Using the Reindeer Dies and Merriest Trees dies, I die cut the presents and bows from Designer Series Paper and Specialty Paper.
I created 2 panels from embossed Cardstock to form my sketch and layered the gifts on top. The varying textures of White Cardstock create an elegant combination with the ‘wrapped’ presents.
The sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray as I liked the softer look of this instead of Black and felt it worked nicely with the Soft Sea Foam. A few Drusy embellishments complete this monochromatic card.

Hello friends, Welcome to the New at SU blog hop for September. Today the projects we are sharing will be using bundles from the Stampin’ Up! September – December Mini Catalogue. I have used the Sentimental Wishes Bundle to feature on my card.
This bundle is part of the Sentimental Christmas suite which also includes Designer Series Paper, Ribbon and embellishments.
On the background, I stamped the leaves from the stamp set in Balmy Blue and embossed the Cardstock panel with the Dashing Designs Embossing Folder.
I chose this beautiful image of the stocking, reminiscent of a storybook image and coloured it with Stampin’ Blends. Around it I added some leaves die cut from Basic White Cardstock using the Winterly Tree Tops dies. These were blended in Soft Sea Foam ink for a subtle addition to the foliage in the stocking.
The base layer of White Cardstock was embossed with the Painted Trees embossing folder. I ran the Cardstock through 4 times too ensure all the edges of the Cardstock had the lovely detail of the folder. Then I distressed the edges with Paper Snips.
The sentiment label was blended with Pretty in Pink and Soft Sea Foam ink to coordinate with the rest of my card, A single snowflake and some Drusy Embellishments add the finishing touches to this vintage card.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope you have been inspired by my project. Make sure to browse through all our other blog hop participants for heaps of inspiration.

On page 16-17 of the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue, you will find a display of our Mix & Match products. I just love the projects on these pages and the Ephemera Packs that are offered in this catalogue are beautiful. For today’s CASEing the Catty Challenge CTC487 we are CASEing a project from these pages.
I CASEd the card bases which are shown on these pages. The Gold Dipped Mix & Match Cards & Envelopes are perfectly coordinated for our range of ephemera and will create quick cards. However, I set about creating my own card bases using inks and embossing powder.
To create this effect you need 2 ink colours from the same colour range – blues, reds, pinks etc. I started with a piece of Basic White Cardstock.
Blend Blueberry Bushel ink lightly with a Blending Brush about halfway across the Cardstock
Swip the Blueberry Bushel ink pad lightly down the Cardstock (use the edge of the ink pad without a lip)
Turn the Cardstock around and repeat the swiping so the ink is applied well on the opposite end too.
Next, swipe the Night of Navy ink pad top to bottom and repeat from bottom to top. This section will be larger than the Blueberry Bushel area.
Dry completely or use heat gun to speed up the drying process
Swipe the Versamark ink pad along the edge of Cardstock to create an uneven border.
Heat emboss in Gold. I repeated this process a couple more times to get a thicker edge.
For this card I also added a little bit of Balmy Blue fading out towards the left edge.
I used the edge of the largest frame from the Radiating Stitches dies to create a border from Night of Navy Cardstock. This was adhered to a strip of Designer Series Paper from the A Little Bit Festive pack of specialty paper. This pack contains 3 sheets of double sided paper and 3 sheets of die cuts, some of which I used on this card.
One of the die cut wreaths was cut in half and added under my border strips. I just love the little drums from these die cuts which are super cute. The white layer was adhered to a Blueberry Bushel matte layer which I blended Blueberry Bushel ink around to create a contrast from the card base.
A Gold ribbon and some peppermint embellishments complete this fun card. I love how the stripes on the peppermints worked in with the stripes on my paper.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you try this fun technique and see what fun colour palettes you create. Next on our hop is Michelle Strazds.
To CASE is to Copy and Selectively Edit and when you CASE you can be copy the project directly or be inspired by elements of it to make it your own.
