Oct 25, 2020 | Fancy Fold Cards, Other |
From our childhood we have learned the art of folding paper, whether it be paper planes or paper boats. The fun of floating precisely creased paper boats in rain water form fond memories of my childhood. Today we are much more sophisticated and during this series of Fun Ways with Designer Series Paper, we are looking at folding beautiful paper.
Fold it
I used the beautiful Ornate Garden Specialty DSP to create this card. With one simple cut and a couple of folds on the DSP, this card goes from simple to having extra interest.
Measure halfway down the DSP panel and then cut about 5cm in. Fold each side back to reveal the other side of the paper. Then adhere this to embossed cardstock.
The daisy was punched out 3 times from Very Vanilla cardstock and coloured using a combination of Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. Once adhered together, I coloured the joins so it looked like a continuous flower.
This next card uses the curtain or drape fold on the Designer Series Paper for an interesting look. I’ve combined it with some ornaments from the Cherish the Season stamp set coloured in with Old Olive and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends.
I created this card on my Facebook Live this afternoon in which I share measurements and tips.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed this fun way of using your DSP. Please leave me a comment if you are enjoying this series and if you have tried any of these techniques as I’d love hearing about your creativity.

I’ve made an encouragement card today as part of Kylie Bertucci’s September International Blog Highlight. I’ve chosen neutral shades and the calming tones of Balmy Blue as my colour combination.
I stamped the bird in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, die cut it with the circle and coloured with Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. Then I created a mask by stamping the bird again on some scrap paper. I dabbed a bit of liquid glue on the back and left it to become tacky. Then I placed this over the the bird to use as a mask and stamped the leaves in Old Olive over the circle.
Using 2 circle dies (1 larger and 1 smaller than the Whisper White circle), I die cut a frame from Crumb Cake cardstock. This was attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the embossed Balmy Blue panel.

I stamped 3 daisies in Pretty Peacock ink, punched them out and sponged around to soften the edges. Several leaves were cut from the vellum sheet in the Magnolia Lane Memories and More cardpack and arranged under the flower. The ribbon has been secured with glue dots.

Aug 12, 2019 | Blog Hops, Friendship |

Hi Friends,
So glad that you have stopped by today. I’m excited to be participating for the first time in the Kre8tors Blog Hop. This month’s theme is The Hood River Fruit Loop. It’s a collection of farms in the Hood River Valley in Oregon, USA that offer fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other items straight off the farm.
We had to select 3 of the 5 featured colours beneath this beautiful photo. I have chosen Early Espresso, Petal Pink and Cherry Cobbler.
The Whisper White layer has been stamped in Early Espresso with the script from the Very Versailles stamp set. Then I added the flourish from Leave a Little Sparkle in Cherry Cobbler. 3 leaves were stamped on top with Early Espresso. To complete the background, I used the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write marker and created the splatter effect by flicking the brush side against the cap of the marker. This creates the subtle splatter look.
Next I drew 2 lines in pencil to indicate where I was going to cut through. The vertical line was 2.5 cm from left edge at top and 4.5 cm from left edge at bottom. The horizontal line was 11.5 cm from top on left side and 7.5 cm from top on right side.
I trimmed about 1/2 cm on either side of the pencil mark which forms the gap so the Early Espresso can show through.

I used the new Daisy Lane bundle and stamped and punched 3 daises, layering and curling the petals with a bone folder to create the flower.
