Mar 11, 2021 | Cards - Birthday, Cards - Blog Hops |
Welcome to our New at SU Blog Hop where pur projects are featuring products from the January – June Mini Catalogue.
I have opened a new bundle for this blog hop – Ride the Range. When I first saw this in the catalogue I knew I had to have it. I just love all the farm, country style stamps. However, with so many beautiful products to play with, I’ve not had a chance to enjoy this set.
I started by scoring a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock at 1/2″ and 1″ intervals. Then flipped the cardstock over so the opposite side of the scored lines were showing. Using my Cinnamon Cider ink pad, I ran the ink pad directly down the cardstock to create some wood-look streaks.
I used a combination of greens with Blending Brushes to create the grass which I adhered to a piece of Pool Party cardstock. This was then die cut with the circle die.
Now, I don’t use Cinnamon Cider as a card base much, as I find it a little heavy but I love the combination with Pool Party. I think everything works with Pool Party, don’t you? I stamped the sentiment on a piece of leftover cardstock from the grass which created a lovely ombre look.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog. I hope this inspires you to take a look at this bundle which makes great guy cards. Combine it with the Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick bundles for a whole farmyard of animals!

Sep 3, 2020 | Challenges |
Always up for a challenge and ready to get some serious Christmas card making done this month, I’m taking part in Martin Stone’s 30 Day Christmas Card Making Challenge.
The theme for Day 1 is Winter Winds. As soon as I saw this I felt a cold, winter chill and a scene popped up in my mind which I wanted to recreate. A chilly, winter’s night with the snow falling to the ground and the wind roaring around sounds cold and cozy all at the same time.
I created a swirling background to depict the wind by swiping my Smoky Slate ink pad across the Whisper White cardstock in a downward swiping motion. This was repeated in Misty Moonlight and a little bit of Early Espresso. Then I used the Kraft ink refill and watered it down with my fine tip Water Painter. I flicked the brush against the lid of the Water Painter to splatter the white ink over my prepared layer. I did the same with the Frost White Shimmer Paint. All these colours and textures created a really blustery, winter’s night.
The die cut trees have been brushed with Wink of Stella and although it’s not easy to pick this up on the photo, it adds a very subtle shimmer.
I just had to add this cute little house from the Coming Home bundle to complete my scene, making it warm and inviting amidst the cold and wild weather going on outside.

May 6, 2020 | Cards - Thank You, Challenges |
What??? Yes, it can be done. That was the callenge over at As You See it Challenges.

Stampin’ Up! have several stamp sets that would work well for a quick floral creation. I chose the beautiful Painted Poppies stamp set. This set really lends itself to creating super quick cards with ‘blotchy’ fill in images – my all time favourite for adding quick colour.
I created the background by embossing Whisper White cardstock with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder, adding colour using the Direct to Paper technique. I just love a technique that gives a nice effect with little effort and this is one of those.

This card was stepped up by colouring the floral images with Lovely Lipstick and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends.

This is the card I created on my Facebook Live. All I changed up was the glimmer dots and that brings out the Pear Pizzazz stamping more,

The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set which has sentiments to suit all kinds of occasions. So you could create this same card in a variety of colours and have them ready to go.
Including die cutting, this entire card took me between 8-10 minutes to create. You can see me make this card in the video I’ve shared. The video is a little bit longer in length, only because there were operator issues!
