Use a Simple Layout to Create a Fashionable Card

Last weekend I had a fun Zoom get together with some of my class attendees. We created a couple of cards together using whatever supplies each one had. One of the cards was a mystery card. It was even a mystery to me!. I provided instructions as we went along. It was quite interesting to see what each of us came up with. I’m sharing with you the card I came up with using the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.

Use a simple layout to create a handmade card

By adding a Smoky Slate card base, it shifted the card from being very bright to a more subtle look which is what I was going for. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray to complement the Purple Posy cardstock it was layered on.

The lipsticks were fussy cut out of the DSP and arranged with the flowers, which I coloured with Stampin’ Blends.

If you love the Dressed to Impress bundle, you are going to have so much fun creating with the All Dressed Up Class in the Mail (Online Class). Orders need to be placed this evening. You will get this fun pack of happy mail and start creating in the comfort of your home guided by a PDF tutorial as well a Facebook tutorial. Kits can be shipped to any address in Australia. PDF is available globally.

Kre8tors Blog Hop – Spring

Hello and welcome to our Kre8tors Blog Hop this month. I am a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. We have just finished Easter, however where you are, you still may be celebrating this wonderful occasion. I hope you have a lovely day.

Kre8tors Blog Hop August Color Challenge

Our theme this month is Spring. In Melbourne we are getting into chilly Autumn right now so I drew on some bright and cheery colours as we need all the cheering up we can get at the moment. The Best Dressed Designer Series Paper has some fun colour choices as well as some pretty, fahion-inspired patterns.

Both these cards use the same measurements and a very simple layout. I used the flowers from the Easter Promise stamp set to create my focal image for the Lovely Lipstick card. I have used Stampin’ Blends to colour it in. If you haven’t tried Stampin’ Blends, I encourage you to give it a try. This is such a simple colouring tool to use and blending is very easy. A ribbon bow, sentiment and a quick card completed.

I created the same card with different paper and the Dressed to Impress stamp set and it just changes the look.  So how do high heel shoes and handbags tie in with the Spring theme? I thought of the Spring racing carnival in Melbourne where women love to dress up so that was my inspiration for this card. The sentiment is from the Label me Bold stamp set. I’ve been using this set increasingly as it has sentiments to suit different occasions and some nice background-style images.

Thank you for checking out my cards today. I hope you give these quick make cards a try and look forward to seeing you back soon. Click on the Next button to see what Annette Ball has in store for you.

Colour Combo Blog Hop – March 2020

Hi friends,

It’s my first time participating in the Colour Combo Blog Hop and I am so excited to be part of it. I love my pinks and for my first challenge I don’t just get 1 but wait … I get 2 pinks to work with.

Colour Combo Blog Hop March 2020

Welcome to those of you who are visiting me for the first time today and for those of you who are regulars here. I’m so glad you have been able to take some time to stop by and see what I have got to share with you today.

I’ve got a couple of cards today using the Wax Resist technique and the Dressed to Impress bundle. The first card uses Melon Mambo over the Wax Resist Technique. I used a sponge dauber to add Blushing Bride to the perfume bottle which was inspired by one those famous brands!

Wax Resist Technique

Supplies

  • Wax paper
  • Whisper White cardstock
  • Embossing Folder
  • 1 piece A3 paper
  • Iron

Directions

  • Cut your 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock and wax paper to the same size. For these cards I cut mine to 9.3cm x 13.6cm
  • Place the wax paper in the embossing folder and emboss as normal. You may need to add an extra shim if it doesn’t have enough pressure going through the die cutting machine. Take your wax paper out of the embossing folder.
  • Place wax paper in-between the 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock
  • Take an A3 sheet of paper (I used a sheet of grid paper) and fold in half. Place the wax paper/cardstock sandwich within the A3/grid paper.
  • Using a very hot iron (no steam), iron over the folded paper, ensuring that you iron over every section of the wax paper. This doesn’t take long. Probably about 20-30 seconds.
  • The side of the 2 pieces of cardstock which were facing the wax paper will have the image of the embossing folder. Ensure that you keep those sides facing up as it’s hard to tell which side is embossed. This will give you 2 card fronts.
  • Using a sponge dauber, add colour over the embossed card. The wax will ‘resist’ the colour. Using a tissue, wipe over the card to take off any excess ink and it will make the embossed image stand out even more.

This second card has a Blushing Bride Wax Resist base. The shoes were coloured with Stampin’ Write markers and the flowers with a sponge dauber. I love using a sponge dauber to add subtle colour to a project – in this case, I didn’t want the Crushed Curry to be too strong so i just sponged a bit of colour in.

Hope you have enjoyed this technique and I’d love to see you back again for more papercrafting fun. You can find all the products I have used, listed at the bottom of this post.

Dressed to Impress Card with Scallop Border Layout

Life is Short … buy the Shoes

Are you a collector of shoes? Do you love the heels or are you a ballet flats person. I am a ballet flats girl but I do like them in different colours and looks. It’s just that I go for comfort. I love this shoe on this card but nowadays I can’t wear any kind of high heel – old age!

The Dressed to Impress Suite is cute, sassy, chic fashionable – all things girly. Perfume, shoes, lipstick, handbags, flowers – all the pretty things.

Patterned Papers with Fashion theme

This is a 5″ square card which is quite simple to create. I’ve used 2 pieces of DSP and split it with a layer of Lovely Lipstick cardstock. What makes it look a little bit fancy is that border from the Magnolia Memory dies. A little bit of colouring, a pretty bow, some sparklies and this lovely card is ready to go.Dressed to Impress, Best Dressed card with Scallop Edge Layout, Stampin' Up! 2020 Mini Catalogue

Get the bundle and DSP to get a free Sale-A-Bration product – it’s that easy. Every $90 = 1 free product. New products have been added to the mix so there’s lots to choose from.
