Celebrate at the Beach

Today I’m sharing with you a beachy card which has been inspired by the pretty colours of the Just Add Ink Challenge #659 and the theme at Paper Players Challenge #647.

I love this combination of Pretty Peacock, Coastal Cabana and Lemon Lolly and it inspired me to create this coastal card. I began with watercolouring the strip of shells on Fluid 100 cardstock. Then I fussy cut around the image to create the shell border adding some ‘sea foam’ with Embossing Paste. This is such a fun product to create beautiful texture. On top of this I added a strip of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper which I cut along the guide of the printed torn paper. This added to the textured look of the waves.

With the Rays of Light stamp set I created a two-tone background of Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock. The base layer was blended with Lemon Lolly ink for some sunshine.

The sentiment had an open centre which needed something and using the Radiating Stiches Dies I created a sun which I coloured with a Blending Brush. A few little shells were die cut from Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper. This gave them some lovely (and easy) shading and finished the card off well.

Creating Texture on Designer Series Paper

Did you know we have an amazing sale on right now? Many of our Designer Series Paper is 15% off and this is the perfect time for you to stock up on these beautiful double sided papers.

The Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper has some beautiful images that can be cut out using the coordinating dies as well as some lovely background patterns. This week my featured product has been our Decorative Masks. There is so much you can do with them and I especially love how when combined with Embossing Paste, the texture it creates.

I tinted the Embossing Paste with So Saffron ink refill. Working on a Silicon Craft Sheet makes the clean up process a lot easier. This particular mask has 4 different images which remind me of doilies. I really like the delicate look of them.

Die cutting the flowers and leaves from the Designer Series Paper gives you already coloured images which are ready to just add to your card. You can get this paper for just $17 for 12 sheets of 12″x12″.

Kylie’s International Blog Highlights #tgifc236

Hi friends,

It’s Melbourne Cup day over here so we get a holiday for a horse race. The horse racing doesn’t interest me in the slightest but a day off is good and it gives me a chance to get some crafting done.

Kylie's International Blog HIghlight

I’ve created my card for Kylie Bertucci’s international Blog Highlights for November with a theme of encouragement.

TGIF236 Colour challenge

I was inspired by the colour challenge over at TGIF Challenges. These are such pretty, autumn colours.

I used the dandelion from the Sweet Silhouette dies to create the flower, adding a second flower in Calypso Coral behind the white one. Doing this makes the flowers stand out and creates more depth.

The background was created with embossing paste which was coloured with Crumb Cake ink refill. After the brick had dried, I stamped over it with the leaves from Very Versailles. This is a look that I really like as it adds subtle detail. The Very Versailles stamp set gets a lot of use in my craft room. It’s a great set.

Embossing paste brick background, Stampin up handmade card

The baker’s twine was coloured with the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blend to coordinate with the elements of my card. I used the Woven Heirloom stamp set for the sentiment. The font in this set is so pretty. Then I die cut it with the Stitched Rectangles die. Over this, I stamped the long textured stamp from Woven Heirlooms, stamping off 3 times so it was a subtle background.

All the products I have used to create this card are listed below. Please leave me a comment or question. I’d love to hear from you. The top 10 winners from this blog highlights will take part in a blog hop at the end of the month and this is decided by how many votes we get. Step-it-Up Sunday #45 Cupcake Sweetness

Hello and welcome to another new week full of inspiration and fun. What has your week been like? I’m back at school where I work 4 days a week. Start of the year is always hectic and each day zooms by. Cassidy started Year 10 and is now in Senior School, so she’s s got a full year ahead of her.

Today’s project started off with my choice of a colour – Pineapple Punch. I felt I had neglected it and hadn’t shown it much love at all so I wanted to feature it on my card. I then worked out some colours around it and came up with this colour combination.

The stamp I have chosen is the fun Hello Cupcake from Sale-A-Bration. and you can earn this free with any $90 purchase. This is such a cute set with some fun sentiments.

Basic

I created the border for the card with the edge of the cupcake stamp. The design, when stamped alongside each other reminds me of an ice cream truck. Some simple stamping and an addition of Designer Series Paper (DSP) is all you need to complete this quick and easy card.

Intermediate

I stepped this card up by adding a layer in Gorgeous Grape. Then I fussy cut the icing. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso on this card as I felt there was a bit too much purple hues and I needed to balance it up.

Advanced

I added a few drops of Pineapple Punch re-inker to the embossing paste to create the ‘frosting’ for this card. A 2″ strip of Pineapple Punch cardstock was punched on either end with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch. I also embossed this piece with the Oh My Stars embossing folder for an extra celebratory look.

Note: I have die cut the sentiment with the retired Farmouse die (I forgot these had retired) however, Frosted Bouquet Framelits would probably work well for this.

Now I feel like a cupcake and a cup of coffee. Yum!
