Pretty in Pink Umbrella #gdp234

Hi Friends,

How are you all doing? I hope you are all keeping well and please know that I have you in my thoughts and prayers. It’s a difficult time for everyone and loneliness can creep in. So, I want to bring you some joy in the projects that I make and hope to inspire you to keep creating.

I just received the Stitched Lace Dies in my last order and wanted to use it straightaway.  It looks so pretty as a background for this lovely umbrella from the Under my Umbrella bundle. The images in the Under my Umbrella stamp set remind me of storybook images and pictures I used to dream up in my mind when reading Enid Blyton stories. They’re so cute.

I sponged the banner with Blushing Bride on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I had planned on doing some watercolouring but then decided against it, so you could use just regular Whisper White cardstock for this. Then I trimmed a piece off the top to stamp my sentiment on. A piece of the Copper Dotted Treat Bag makes a nice addition to the banner.

Umbrella punch with Stampin' Up! products and pleated ribbon

To create the umbrella, I started off by stamping the flowers on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Crumb Cake ink. Then I stamped the umbrella image in Blushing Bride over the flowers.

The punch leaves a white border around the umbrella, which in this instance showed up my flowers outside the lines – which didn’t look that good. To get around this, I punched the umbrella, aligning the bottom of the umbrella right along the line. Then I used a post-it-note to attach to the umbrella image, re-inserting it twice into the punch to get the two sides flush against the lines. You could fussy cut it but I think this gives a better finish.

The ribbon has been pleated using Tear n’ Tape and then secured with another piece on the back. I’m not a fan of sewing so glue is my friend and papercrafting was made for me.

The Follow Your Art suite in the Annual Catalogue has got every type of craft and crafter covered. Sewing, painting, colouring, drawing, stamping, hot glue gun lover, stationery collecter – there’s something for everyone.

The Designer Series Paper has images of tools and products used in these crafts on one side and the other side has fun and creative designs. Coordinating colours are Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, Whisper White.

Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper

Both the cards are in the Pacific Point and Calypso Coral colour combination and feature the spools of ribbon. With a die that cuts out these ribbons it’s easy to create a variety of coloured ribbons for your cards. I love the cute heart that is formed by the ribbon.

Handmade cards featuring images of hobbies, arts and crafts

This first card follows a very simple layout and is a great for the Beginner cardmaker as it’s a simple sketch to follow. I’ve created 2 halves in my card with the bottom half a little bit larger than the top. I’ve added the beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the images of the ribbon on the top half and then added the embossed Crushed Curry panel at the bottom.

A strip of Coastal Cabana cardstock across the centre ties the 2 halves together. I also stamped my sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink on it.

It Starts with Art, Simple Layout handmade card, How to use scraps of cardstock

To colour in the ribbons I used some Stampin’ Write Markers. There are colours to match every ink Stampin’ Up! have and this makes coordination so easy.

Tip:

Use scrap cardstock strips to create a border between layers or to stamp sentiments on.

For my next card I used the Button Button embossing folder on the Pacific Point cardstock. You can see the lovely detail of this embossing folder and it adds great texture to these cards.

DIY greeting card to give crafters and hobbyists

You probably know that I love layering cardstock and paper. This creates depth and makes layers pop such as the paintbrush paper on this card. The paper clip is from the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit. This embellishment kit contains lovely felt elements in Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana and Crushed Curry, paper clips, linen thread, silver charms – everything to coordinate with your Follow Your Art projects.
