Happy Sunday! Melbourne has given us a beautiful sunny day with blue skies today. Pretty good for a winter’s day. My card today has been inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.
This is a great sketch to use up all those bits and pieces of cardstock you may have lying around. I created an ombre background using Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. Each piece was cut to 9.3cm x 3.4cm. Then I matte this onto a Basic Gray panel of 9.9cm x 14.2cm.
The bouquet of flowers from the Hand Penned Petals stamp set adds a pop of colour against the greens.
All the products I’ve used for this card are listed below and can be ordered in my Online Store or by contacting me.
We have a beautiful colour challenge for Day 12 of Martin Mayhem’s #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge. I love this colour combination of Soft Sea Foam, Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake.
I have combined this stamp set with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches FMS452.
The Joyful Holly stamp set is a two-step stamp making it a great stamp set for beginner stampers. You stamp the outline with the first stamp and then the inner colour with the second stamp.
I stepped up my stamping by stamping the outline in Gold Embossing Powder. Then I stamped the inside of the image in Soft Sea Foam and Blushing Bride.
The label has been embossed with the Parisian Flourish embossing folder to add some beautiful texture.
The Joy Dies create this beautiful sentiment which can be layered in the coordinating colours, providing lots of versatility.
If you are loving this beautiful sentiment die, make sure you book in for our weekend long Papercraft Retreat in November. I’ll be showing you more projects using the Joyful Dies and it’s coordinating stamp set Peace & Joy. More details below.
Onto Day 2 of Martin Stone’s 30 Day Christmas Card Making Challenge and it’s technique time with the Paper Piecing Technique.
Paper Piecing is a technique which involves using various pieces of cardstock or Designer Series Paper to build an image. This could be a pre-designed image such as a stamp or a new one such as punch art.
I have used the Poinsetta Place Designer Series Paper to do some fussy cutting of the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper. The petals were layered to create a 3D paper pieced poinsettia.
The leaves were coloured in a combination of Old Olive and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends. Combining colours of Blends gives you the opportunity to experiment with shading and achieving a different tone of colour.
I went around the edge of the leaves and flower petals with Early Espresso ink using a sponge dauber to take away the stark white edge.
A flourish die cut from the white felt sheet from the Festive Felt Sheet combo adds some soft leaf detail to the card.
Christmas card inspiration is all through September with this challenge so please join me each day to see what I come up with, You can also see all the other cards being made in this challenge by searching #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge .
