Happy Valentine’s Day! Today the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop team are sharing the love of our favourite technique. There are so many great techniques and I can’t wait to see what everyone’s favourite is.
Our team comprises of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators representative of our global market and on the second Wednesday of each month we share creative inspiration with you.
The first thing that popped into my head for my favourite technique was ink blending because I seem to use it it some capacity on the majority of my cards. I managed to incorporate quite a few of my favourite techniques on my cards today as I realised there are some I tend to use quite often such as layering and colouring.
First I blended a background of Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sorbet. I had an idea of creating a background of cow spots on this background. To do this, I created a mask from Basic White Cardstock using some dies from the Pansy Patch dies which had the shapes suitable for this. Then I blended Pecan Pie and Early Espresso ink through it.
I die cut the background pieces of the greenery from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and blended Garden Green ink over it to create a variation in colour. The layer at the back has been embossed with the Elegant Eucalyptus Embossing Folder which had the long sprigs like grass. I randomly blended some Cardstock with a range of greens and die cut the grass from it. I love how this provides different shading across the die cut pieces.
The Old Olive panel towards the front was embossed with the Fern embossing folder which added the textured look behind the grass.
As part of this challenge, we were also encouraged to double up the challenge and find out the technique of one of our team members. I really enjoy finding out more about our team like this because we are friends and it’s nice to get to know your friends better. I reached out to Danielle Kassing who let me know that her favourite technique is creating Ink Blended backgrounds (make sure you check her post out). So I’ve created a card focusing on this fun technique.
Using the large grass die cut from the Garden Meadow dies I blended a range of greens down the panel of Basic White Cardstock. This creates a fun ombre background and it’s a great way to use your different coloured ink pads.
The flowers were fussy and I added the cute cow on top. On both the cows today I added a bit of sponge daubing with Pecan Pie ink to add a dusting of earthy dirt!
A panel of White Cardstock embossed with the Stripes embossing folder adds some lovely texture. This embossing folder is part of the Stripes & Splatters pack and you can get it free with a $90 order during our Sale-A-Bration promotions which runs through until 29th February.
What is your favourite technique that you just love? Let me know in the comments. I hope that you have enjoyed the projects I’ve shared with you today and try out some of these fun techniques.
Please hop through to Cheryll Miiller to see what she is sharing with us today. I know she will have something amazing for you.

This wheelbarrow from the Garden Meadow bundle is giving me lots of colouring fun. Taking my colours from the Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper, This paper can be yours free with a $90 order during Sale-A-Bration.
I coloured in the wheelbarrow in Lost Lagoon – a nice change to the usual neutral colours. Multi-coloured flowers add to the spring feel of this card and tie in with the background flowers. Designer Series Paper, many times, helps me with selecting colours for my projects as the hard work has been done for me. It makes it so easy to select my coordinating Cardstock and embellishments to complete my project.
I added a tone-on-tone sheet of DSP from the same pack to bring in a neutralising layer in the centre inbetween all the colours.
Take a look at the video below for all the details on how I created this card.

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to gather at a friend’s home along with other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. We brought along whatever projects we wanted to work on. This was a fun opportunity to chat and catch up. I took along a bunch of stamped images from the Garden Meadow stamp set and lots of Stampin’ Blends. Colouring is an activity that I enjoy. Sometimes I’ll mess with my colouring for ages because I find it very relaxing.
So after that night my wheelbarrow image was ready for this sketch at TGIF Challenges #tgifc455. This formed the front panel of the sketch.
I offset 2 rectangles for the back panel of the sketch. One has been embossed with the Fall 3D Embossing Folder and the Everyday Details die cut was blended with Lemon Lolly and Calypso Coral ink to coordinate with the flowers.
A pleased ribbon attached with Tear and Tape was added to embellish the sentiment. I tried the Calypso Coral sentiment without the black and felt it got lost so I ended up adding the strip of Basic Black Cardstock behind it and I liked the look of this better.
I hope you have enjoyed the inspiration using this beautiful bundle. If you would like to add this bundle to your shopping list, you will qualify for a Sale-A-Bration reward until 29th February.
I’ll be hosting a free Online Class on my FB page at 11am AEDT. Please join me as I create a few projects using new catalogue products.

Hello and welcome to the last Around the World on Wednesday blog hop for 2024. I’m so glad you have been able to join me here in Melbourne. If it’s your first time here I hope you enjoy what you see and are inspired to create something beautiful. Our AWOW team is based around the world and on the second Wednesday of each month we share creative inspiration for you.
Our theme this month is a focus on Watercolour Smooshing technique. This is a fun technique which yields different results everytime. You require some acetate (our clear Window Sheets are perfect) for this. Generally, I’ve created backgrounds with this technique. For today’s card I contained it within the window from the Garden Meadow dies. I wanted it to look like a little scene through the window and I used the technique to create that.
The Garden Meadow bundle comes with lots of cute images to build the scene. I’ve just got this bundle and I was just wanting to use the gum boots. How cute are they? I pretty built they rest of my card around them!
To add some balance and so the window wasn’t just sitting in the middle of nowhere, I added a piece of Soft Sea Foam Designer Series Paper. I left the top of my card clear to show the technique and built up my scene at the bottom.
For all the details on how I created this card, take a look at the video below.
Thank you for stopping by and I’m sure once finish looking through all the ideas you will be getting inky with the Watercolour Smooshing technique. Next on our hop is Danielle Kassing and I can’t wait to see what she has created.
