My card today is one that just makes me feel warm and cozy – I think it’s the combination of apples and gingham that somehow evokes these feelings.
I’ve created this for the Just Add Ink Challenges – Choose Two from Gingham, Dots and Die Cuts. I have picked Ginham and Die Cuts.
The apple has been die cut from a brand new, yet-to-be-released die which coordinates with the Apple Harvest stamp set. The Apple Blossoms Dies will be available for purchase on the 1st of September. You will want to add these to your collection as they have so many bits and pieces to coordinate with this stamp set and… there is a beautiful scalloped die for edging.
I watercoloured the apple with Sweet Sorbet, So Saffron, Parakeet Party, Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede ink. Then I added some extra shading on the leaves with an Old Olive Watercolor Pencil and Early Espresso around the stem. Watercolouring is a quick way to add colour to your images and so much fun.
For my gingham element I first chose the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper which is part of our In-Color Pack. I love how this adds to the country charm of this card. Then I also added a piece of Basic White which has been embossed with the Gingham Embossing Folder. Until the 31st August, you can choose this as a free product when you spend $90 in store. Are you glad it’s the weekend? I definitely am. I’ve had a lovely craft class yesterday making some Christmas projects. We even celebrated a birthday and had birthday cake. The rest of this weekend I will be preparing for the Craft Alive show in Morwell which runs from Friday to Sunday next week.
I’ve been inspired by a couple of challenges for this card. I started off with the Just Add Ink Challenge of Just Add “H” – this could be a technique, stamp set, background, object.
These challenges always makes me feel like I need to browse through a dictionary because I want to pick something unusual. Flipping through my stamp sets, I came across the Tea Together stamp set and my brain just went “High tea”. So there you have it – my “H” component.
My layout was inspired by the Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge sketch which provided so many possibilities. Sketches are great to work with as it gives your project some direction to go in.
To start off, I stamped the images on Shimmery White cardstock. I stamped off on scrap paper first and then stamped the image to have a lighter outline. This is my first attempt at some no-line watercolouring. Using an Aqua Painter and ink refills, I added Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and a little bit of Pretty Peacock to highlight the images blending the stamped outline. I left the layers to dry a little between colours. To get a nice water colour look, create a wash with the colours so they are not intense but instead a bit runny.
Leave the images to dry and make sure it’s completely dry by using your heat tool. Then run them through the die cutting machine. I masked the bottom of the images with post-it-notes and stamped the leaf image – once in full strength and once second stamping. I love how this little tea set turned out.
The Gray Granite Designer Series Paper is from the Come to Gather pack and is one of those sheets that could get lost among the darker, Autumn colours in this pack. It’s what I call, a hidden gem – something that could be missed in the catalogue . As we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia it’s easy to flick past some of these pages. These papers are beautiful and there are some sheets in neutral shades which are great for so many projects.
Finally I added the Balmy Blue Gingham from our Subtles Designer Series Pack and some of the Gray Granite Textured Ribbon. The sentiment is from the Host stamp set – Time for Tags and I’ve die cut it with the tag from the Cup of Cheer dies. I’ve stamped the tag with the frame stamp from Very Versailles which is a lovely set to add texture to your cards.
Now all I need are my scones and chicken and cucumber sandwiches!

Welcome to this month’s Stampers Showcase Blog Hop. I’m hopping with other talented demonstrators from around the world and we are featuring our favourite Holiday Catalogue suite. There are several in this catalogue to choose from so it was a little bit tricky to narrow it down. I don’t know about you but for me It’s a matter of turning the page and saying, ‘I like this one’ and then the next page I look at I say ‘no this one’s my favourite’ and on it goes. So many beautiful things.
I’ve chosen the Toile Tidings Suite to showcase and created a few projects with this beautiful suite. The entire suite comprises of 2 stamp sets and 2 die sets, Designer Series Paper, accessories – even wrapping paper. The colour theme is Real Red, Garden Green and Very Vanilla.
The first card uses the Toile Christmas stamp set and I’ve coloured the images with Stampin’ Blends.
Although the cardinal image is large, it is very easy to colour in and Stampin’ Blends are such an easy colouring medium to work with. I love the gingham Designer Series Paper in this suite. The Toile Tidings DSP is 12″x12″ and there are 2 sheets each of 6 designs. One side is Real Red and the other side has the same design in Garden Green.
For my next card I die cut a Stitched Rectangle and pencil marked the edge of the DSP and then trimmed the overhang. Then I stamped the leaves from the Tidings All Around stamp set.
The poinsettias, die cut leaves and sentiment are from the Cup of Christmas bundle. This stamp and die set has some really cute accessory images, including candy cane, holly leaves, a bow and these poinsettias which coordinate with lots of projects and are perfect for Christmas.
I have adhered a thin strip of DSP under the sentiment and I think it gives the look of ribbon. It’s great for using all those little bits of paper you may have (I think we all do) in your stash.
The gift bag is made from 2 sheets of 12″ Designer Series Paper and I got the instructions from Jackie Bolhuis. It’s very simple to make and a really cute bag to create a coordinate look to match the card.

I’ve got some cards to show you today with the Wrapped in Plaid suite which is probably my favourite suite in the catalogue. What I love is the traditional colours and the simplicity of the punch. My cards use the same simple layout and are very quick to create.
I used the Pine Tree Punch from the Perfectly Plaid bundle (Item #151143) to punch out the trees from the Designer Series Paper. These were then mounted with Dimensionals onto a 2″ circle from matching cardstock (colours I have used here are Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce). Then I added a 2 1/4″ Gold Foil circle.
I stamped the sentiment in the coordinating ink on Whisper White cardstock 14.2 cm x 9.9 cm. The strip of Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper (Item #149596) has been cut to 14.8 cm x 5.2 cm.
These cards took me minutes to make and would be great to mass produce. The addition of the Gold Foil adds an extra festive feel to match with the gold on the DSP.
Would you like a Holiday Catalogue? They are all on my desk waiting to be posted out. So please message me your details and I’ll send it out.
You are also invited to my FREE event to launch the Holiday catalogue. I’m having 2 sessions so please indicate which one you will be attending. Bookings are required as I need to get kits prepared. Invite your friends. We are going to have lots of fun.
My project today packages the Butterfly Elements which is a free Sale-A-Bration product you can get with a $90 purchase. What a lovely gift this would make for a crafty friend or for crafty you.
I have used also used the Sale-A-Bration Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper. To punch out the butterfly, cut out a section of the DSP. Then use a post-it-note as a ‘handle’ to help you maneuver it into the punch. This means you won’t waste any of that beautiful paper.
Cut a strip of the Designer Series Paper and wrap it around, attaching it with double sided tape at the join. Add the tag created with the Daffodil Delight Gingham Gala DSP layered onto Balmy Blue cardstock. I love the cheerfulness of these 2 colours. Pop on your butterfly with some mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and you have a cute little gift for a friend.
Purchases that total $90 will receive your choice of a free Sale-A-Bration Level 1 item. There are also products available for a $180 purchase (Level 2 item) There is no limit to the number of items you can choose. So if you spend $180 you can either choose 2 x Level 1 items or 1 x Level 2 item.
