Graduation Card for Cassidy

Last Thursday I had the honour of attending my daughter, Cassidy’s graduation ceremony. After spending the majority of the last 2 years of High School in lockdown, it was so wonderful to see her graduate and complete her schooling.

Just a week before the event she was allowed to take 1 guest and I was blessed to be able to attend this event with her and share in the celebrations.

She also received the College Performing Arts award which was such a joy as her love for music and drama have been a constant throughout her schooling.

I created this card in the College colours of purple and silver to commemorate the occasion, adding some stars to coordinate with the stars on the College logo.

A combination of stars from the Christmas Trimmings and Christmas Layers dies were used. I cut several out of Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape and Silver to create a cluster.

Of course, I had to add embossing with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder for that extra personal touch for Cassidy. Isn’t that the beauty of handmade cards? We can personalise it for the recipient. The sentiment on the inside from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set was perfect for the occasion as we were celebrating Cassidy and her accomplishments and this was all for her.

Colour Combo Blog Hop – April 2020

Hello friends,

Well, this might be your 3rd stop by my blog in 24 hours. It has been a busy day in the crafting world! We are bringing sunshine to you no matter where you are right now. Welcome to Stamping Flair. It’s our Colour Combo Blog Hop and I’ve got a trio of cards to share with you.

I’ve used the Witty-Cisms stamp set to create my cards and have combined all 3 of our colours – Grapefruit Grove, Highland Heather and Gray Granite on each. By selecting Whisper White as my card base, I was able to vary the intensity of the colours according to the type of card.

Each of my cards use scrap Gray Granite cardstock cut into various widths which feature in some way and add interest to these cards.

My first card is this cute baby card and gingham is such a great pattern for new born projects. The Ornate Floral Embossing Folder combined with some Purple Posy linen ribbon adds a softness which complements this card.

This graduation card has been kept simple with classic lines and some colouring in using Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends.

The last card, I think would suit a retirement. This too features the Gray Granite card scrap but you can see how effective it looks at that angle. The other half of the cardstock has been embossed with the Coastal Weave Embossing Folder.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have been inspired by my cards to give the stamp set or perhaps the scraps technique a try. All products I have used are listed at the end of this post.  Next on the hop is Judith Postler. Please click on the Next button to visit her blog.

Graduation Card with Hometown Edgelits

My sister-in-law, Marie, requested me to make a graduation card for her friend who was graduating from Theological college as a counsellor. She wanted a church on it and some specific text. This made me really think of what to create as I didn’t have any stamps with a church on it. I love when I get these types of requests because they challenge me to make cards that I may not have otherwise.

I wracked my brain for days and then thought of the Hometown Greetings die which has a little church as part of one of the edgelits and thought of a design that could incorporate it. As it was a little church, I thought of the hymn ‘Church in the Wildwood’. My sister-in-law lives in Tasmania and I wanted to evoke that country feel in the card with a little country church.

Isn’t it lovely that when we create our cards we can tailor them to the individual? This is a part of cardmaking I love so much.  Whenever I am asked to create cards for weddings or special birthdays, I always try to find out some special information about the recipient. Whether it’s their hobbies, jobs, interests, colour schemes. It’s so nice to create unique handmade items.

To create this card I die cut the church from glossy cardstock so it stood out against the background. This was created by brayering various ink colours and then stamping with images from Lovely as a Tree and Waterfront stamp sets. I fussy cut the logs from the Wood Texture DSP. I love how this added the open fireplace look and the gingham ribbon added the finishing touch for some extra country charm.

The sentiment is from a retired stamp set but it was perfect for the occasion. The little sign saying ‘Rev. Jen’ was a fun addition for the recipient. It was really tiny so I printed it and then  stamped it with the Hardwood stamp.

The background is the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper which coordinated well with my colour scheme. I didn’t want to post this card online until Jen received it. Im pleased to say she loved her personalized card.

Love these products? Some of these items are retiring. Get them until 31st May, while supplies last.

New catalogue release is 1st June.
