I love this sketch challenge for Day 26 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge. It is so open and really gives you so many ways to interpret it. I’ve used the ornaments from the Cherish the Season stamp set to create my focal image, replacing the snowflake in the sketch.
I coloured the ornaments in Just Jade Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut them out. Then I heat embossed them in Clear Embossing Powder 3 times to give them a glossy finish. The holly from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set was also fussy and layered to form the focal image for my card.
The ornaments were placed on a Wonder of the Season Memories & More card which was been layered on ‘Tis the Season Designer Series Paper.
BANNER
To create the banner at the back, I die cut a Stitched Rectangle from Magic in the Night Designer Series Paper then used the same die to create the banner effect. This created a very short banner. I extended this by cutting the banner and gluing it at the back which gives the impression that there is a full length banner.
Do you love the Mesh Ribbon as much as I do? You may have missed it in the Mini catalogue. It’s on page 53 in the bottom right hand corner. It really is a pretty ribbon and adds a lovely softness to the card. For the sentiment, I took one of my favourites, from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set. Stamping the sentiment in black balances the colour against the black card base.
Why don’t you give this sketch a try? You could even flip it on it’s side. Working with sketches is a lot of fun. You can find all the products I’ve used listed at the bottom of this post. The ‘Tis the Season DSP and Magic in this Night DSP are on sale in our October Designer Series Paper Sale. View the entire selection by clicking on the image below.

The Emboss Resist Technique is such a fun technique and a great challenge for Day 14 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge . Emboss Resist is a technique of stamping an image with Versamark and heat embossing it. Then when you stamp or add ink over it, the embossing ‘resists’ the ink and is visible while the background takes on the ink colour.
I chose the Peaceful Boughs and Christmas Gleaming stamp set to work with and then selected my colour palette.
The boughs were heat embossed in White Embossing Powder. Then I used a sponge brayer to add Bumble Bee, Terracotta Tile and Melon Mambo over the entire piece of Whisper White cardstock. I didn’t worry about the ink going over the embossing as it resists the colour and a bit of tissue would wipe that clean.
Once I had applied and blended all 3 colours, I wiped the excess off using a tissue. I found that the darker colours still didn’t make my embossing as white as I wanted. Using a cotton bud, I dabbed some Stampin’ Mist on it and set about rubbing the colour off the embossing. This brought up the white lots more and made it brighter.
The bauble was heat embossed in white and then I coloured it with Stampin’ Blends. I love how the embossing shines through.
I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink using the Stamparatus. This let me stamp it a couple of times so the sentiment was nice and clear. Then I die cut the word Joy from Whisper White cardstock and offset it giving it a shadow effect.
This Peace & Joy bundle has been getting a lot of use in my craft room as it’s so versatile with it’s layering options. A full list of the products I’ve used are at the bottom of this post. Aug 10, 2020 | Blog Hops, Love & Anniversary, Masculine |
Hi and welcome to Stamping Flair and the monthly Kre8tors Blog Hop. I’m a little bit sad because it’s the last time we’ll be hopping together for the time being. Thank you to Melissa Tennison who has worked so hard putting this blog hop together each month. I’ve had so much fun being a part of it.

However, we still have all the fun of this month. So make sure you check out all the blogs for lots of inspiration. Our theme is anniversaries. Usually I would create a floral, feminine card but this time I created more with my partner in mind. So my card took on a more masculine feel.
I started by sponging Granny Apple Green and Misty Moonlight along the bottom of the Whisper White cardstock panel. Then I embossed it with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. Taking my Versamark ink pad, I roughly ran it down the ends of the cardstock and poured the Gold Embossing Powder over it. I brushed off any excess to achieve a streaky look then heat embossed it.

The sentiment is the die from the Love You More set and it actually says ‘Love you more than’. I just used the words ‘ Love you’ which I die cut from the Rainbow Glimmer Paper.

I hope you have been inspired by my creation. Please leave me a comment as I would love to hear from you. Next on our hop is Annette Elias. Click on the Next button to see her lovely project.

Hello and welcome to our Colour Combo Blog Hop. I’m Rochelle Laird-Smith and I live in Melbourne, Australia. If it is your first time visiting my blog, thank you for stopping by. I really hope you enjoy your time here and visit often. To all my regular subscribers, thank you for reading and interacting with me.

This was another colour combination I wouldn’t have really put together but that’s the idea of a challenge, right? I’m really glad for it because it stretches me to think outside the square.
I took to one of my favourite techniques for this card – watercolouring, together with the Forever Fern bundle. You can get this bundle for free during the month of June. Find out the details at the end of this post.
I started by stamping the larger leaves in Sahara Sand, stamped off. Then I watercoloured these in with my Water Painter in Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo. It’s best to start light and then increase the intensity of colour. I kept my brush tip just damp so I could create the lines on the leaves.

To create the Flirty Flamingo leaves, I spritzed the Shimmery White cardstock with water. Then I inked the stamp with Flirty Flamingo and stamped on the wet cardstock. This gives a different water coloured look to the previous leaf.

I laid this all on a circle embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder. The sentiment is from the Well Said stamp and Well Written dies. I have just purchased these. It is a 2 set stamp set so you get a lot of sentiments. Combine it with the die cuts, like I have and you can get several combinations.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. All products I have used on this project are listed at the bottom of this post. I hope my project inspires you to try different colour combinations that you might not usually try. Why not give this one a try? Next on the hop is Sigrid Joch. Fun, bright and cheerful projects that take you to the tropics are made simple with the Tropical Oasis Memories & More card pack. Sun, sand, palm trees, surf ….. it’s all here in this suite. The background layer is one of the larger cards which I cut down to size. This image took me back to to the place of my birth – Sri Lanka, where street vendors sell young coconuts, with the top cut just enough for you drink out of. It’s not fancy like the coconut in my card but it’s refreshing in the heat.
I fussy cut the coconut from one of the smaller cards in this pack. Don’t be afraid of fussy cutting. This was quite a simple project and it can be quite therapeutic. Make sure you get a good pair of paper snips.

The sentiment has been heat embossed with White Emboss Powder. I stamped the Pool Party layer beneath with the tops of the palm trees in Pool Party ink. Stamping tone on tone (coloured ink on same colour cardstock) gives a subtle background and adds interest to an otherwise plain piece of cardstock. To complete this I added some flowers from the sticker sheets provided in the pack.
