When I saw the theme at Just Add Ink Challenges #655 I knew I had to take part. Music has been a part of my life since the day I was born. With a mother who was a piano teacher and choir directress we were a home immersed in it’s rich heritage.
I chose the Enjoy the Rhythm stamp set with an idea of making more of a guy card. Taking a panel of Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper, I embossed it with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder. This Pebble Path sheet has a dry brush look background which immediately added a light and dark area to the embossing.
I went over the embossing with Tuxedo Black, using a Sponge Dauber to highlight the music notes.
Next I added a banner with the Dry Brushed Metallic Paper which was a look I liked. At this point I decided to add the Gilded Leafing over the embossed panel as I felt it would work well against the Specialty Paper. I used a brush and my fingers to smoothen the surface and take off the excess. Have you played with Gilded Leafing? It’s a fun product which adds beautiful texture.
There are different ways you can apply Gilded Leafing. On this card, I roughly dragged the Versamark Ink Pad in the areas that I wanted the gold on. Then I applied Heat & Stick Powder over these areas, activating the stickiness by heating it with a Heat Tool. Next I laid the embossed panel face down into my Gilded Leafing container.
TIPS FOR WORKING WITH GILDED LEAFING
Transfer the Gilded Leafing to a larger box. It comes packaged in a small container. By transferring it to a larger container, I’m able to place a card front in it and have more space to work with it.
Don’t breathe over it or sneeze on it! It will fly away everywhere!
Using Paper Snips, I gently scraped off some of the Gilded Leafing to expose the notes and stave. I really liked this background which highlighted the embossed detail even more and gave it a bit of a ‘funky’ look.
On the sentiment panel, I stamped sections of the piano keys by masking off the sentiment, to create some added texture. The guitar which has been coloured with Stampin’ Blends was kept simple against the gold tinged background.
I hope you give this fun techique a try and if you have any questions please get in touch with me. All supplies I have used are listed below. If you live in Australia, you can shop with me by placing an order online or by contacting me.

Oh my, I’m in love with this colour combination. Who would have thought it would include Lemon Lime Twist? When Lemon Lime Twist made it’s debut as an In-Color some years ago, I barely used it but since it’s return as part of our core colour range I’m finding it adds that perfect punch to my cards,
Misty Moonlight is another past In-Color (which I LOVED), now returning as part of our core range and Copper Clay is part of our new 2023-2025 In-Colors. It’s so much fun to have a fresh new palette of colours to play with
I used the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper and Gorgeously Made bundle to create this card in keeping with the sketch at Just Add Ink challenges #652.
This is a nice and simple sketch which can be worked with in so many ways. I flipped the sketch a bit so the circle is to the left. In place of it I added 2 sets of leaves. One set die cut from Misty Moonlight Cardstock and the other from Basic White and ink blended with Lemon Lime Twist. This added a subtle pop of colour to my earthy card.
A banner die cut from the Nested Essentials dies lays on the Gorgeously Made label which was embossed with the Cane Weave Embossing Folder for added texture. On the base I used the spiral notebook die, inked with Pecan Pie ink and lay it on a small piece of DSP which I scrunched up and attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I just love the extra dimension this added.
I hope you have been inspired to play with some different colour palettes using our new colours.

If you are in Melbourne you may be one of the fortunate ones enjoying a long weekend. I certainly am grateful for it. I’ve created a card using inspired by the Global Design Project challenge and Just Add Ink Just Choose Two challlenge.
My project composition began with a colour palette inspired by Kim Fee’s design. I then chose a stamp set which I hadn’t used in a while and depicted a similar layout to Kim’s. For my Just Two elements I’ve chosen Blending (of course!) and White.
I started off by stamping the tea cup in Pale Papaya on Basic White Cardstock and blending Pale Papaya ink over it. Then I added some additional shading and blending with Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends along the right side of the cup. The leaves were stamped in Old Olive and then I blended Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive over it. With this, my focal element was decided now it was time to add all the other bits and pieces.
I blended the centre oval with Parakeet Party and Old Olive. The Old Olive checks added through a mask depicted the checks on the DSP of the inspiration design, with the black and white leaves inspired by the heat embossed sentiment from the original project.
I couldn’t go past a cute little gingham bow to bring all those elements together with a finishing touch of a few Opal Rounds.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have been inspired to create with some products you may have not used in a while.

It’s a Fairy Tail Christmas theme for Day 13 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge . Not a fairytale as we would picture it but with the emphasis on ‘tail’ I was off selecting a cute animal stamp. With so many cute animal images in the Stampin’ Up! product line, there were quite a few to choose from. I chose the Zany Zebras, well, for the pure zaniness of a zebra at Christmastime. Who needs a reindeer when you can have a zebra right?
The 3 cute zebras in this stamp set also tied in perfectly with the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink Challenge #522.
This layout made it really fun to create this card as it looks like the zebras are having a good old chat working out where they are going on their next shopping spree!
I added some fussy cut images from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper to create the Christmas feel. The sentiment is also from the DSP and layered on a label from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley.

Are you glad it’s the weekend? I definitely am. I’ve had a lovely craft class yesterday making some Christmas projects. We even celebrated a birthday and had birthday cake. The rest of this weekend I will be preparing for the Craft Alive show in Morwell which runs from Friday to Sunday next week.
I’ve been inspired by a couple of challenges for this card. I started off with the Just Add Ink Challenge of Just Add “H” – this could be a technique, stamp set, background, object.
These challenges always makes me feel like I need to browse through a dictionary because I want to pick something unusual. Flipping through my stamp sets, I came across the Tea Together stamp set and my brain just went “High tea”. So there you have it – my “H” component.
My layout was inspired by the Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge sketch which provided so many possibilities. Sketches are great to work with as it gives your project some direction to go in.
To start off, I stamped the images on Shimmery White cardstock. I stamped off on scrap paper first and then stamped the image to have a lighter outline. This is my first attempt at some no-line watercolouring. Using an Aqua Painter and ink refills, I added Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and a little bit of Pretty Peacock to highlight the images blending the stamped outline. I left the layers to dry a little between colours. To get a nice water colour look, create a wash with the colours so they are not intense but instead a bit runny.
Leave the images to dry and make sure it’s completely dry by using your heat tool. Then run them through the die cutting machine. I masked the bottom of the images with post-it-notes and stamped the leaf image – once in full strength and once second stamping. I love how this little tea set turned out.
The Gray Granite Designer Series Paper is from the Come to Gather pack and is one of those sheets that could get lost among the darker, Autumn colours in this pack. It’s what I call, a hidden gem – something that could be missed in the catalogue . As we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia it’s easy to flick past some of these pages. These papers are beautiful and there are some sheets in neutral shades which are great for so many projects.
Finally I added the Balmy Blue Gingham from our Subtles Designer Series Pack and some of the Gray Granite Textured Ribbon. The sentiment is from the Host stamp set – Time for Tags and I’ve die cut it with the tag from the Cup of Cheer dies. I’ve stamped the tag with the frame stamp from Very Versailles which is a lovely set to add texture to your cards.
Now all I need are my scones and chicken and cucumber sandwiches!
