Friendship Card #gdp209 Colour Challenge

Hi friends,

I’ve got a sweet card for you today inspired by the fun colours set out in the Global Design Project challenge this week. These are such bright and cheerful colours and I thought it would be fun to create a friendship card.

#gdp209 Color Challenge, Colour Challenge

I chose the Little Elephant stamp set and although tempted to use the cute little elephants, I decided to use some other fun images which are included in this set.

Friendship card using Little Elephant stamp set by Stampin' Up!

The border of hearts was made using a small stamp in the set. Then I used the Stamparatus to create the flower border. These were coloured with Blueberry Bushel and Call me Clover Stampin’ Write Markers with the ‘direct to stamp’ colouring technique. To achieve this look, I coloured the stamp with the markers then ‘huffed’ (breathed) on it to activate the moisture and stamped. I did this each time I coloured the stamp. The advantage of the Stamparatus is the ability to align a border as I have done and also to re-stamp images which may not stamp first time.

The sentiment was heat embossed in White on Call me Clover cardstock.

It’s #worldcardsendingweek this week. I plan on sending this card to a friend (shhh – I can’t say who in case she sees this!). So get involved in this fun week and send out one (or a few) of your handmade cards to someone. They will love it and you will be a blessing to them.

Step-it-Up Sunday #26 Little Elephant Welcome

Hi Friends,

Hope you are doing well and have had a lovely week. What creative projects have you been working on this week? I’ve been creating and preparing projects to share with you all. I even completed my first ever scrapbook page and I am so thrilled with how it turned out and will share this with you soon.

I was also fortunate to be able to register for our Bi-Annual demonstrator event – On Stage being held in November. I am super excited for this as we get to see new products, learn new techniques and meet other demonstrators.

My Holiday catalogue preorder arrived with so many goodies. I’ve already shared one of the products on my Facebook page so if you would like to see it, make sure you check it out there. It’s a beautifully packaged bundle of products. Time constraints haven’t given me much of a chance to play with all the products I’ve received but I will continue keep you posted with photos and projects as I get a chance to play with them.

You will get to order from the Holiday catalogue on 5th September however, if you don’t want to wait until then, then Join Up as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator and get to see the Holiday catalogue NOW and preorder products straightaway.

The bundle I feature today is the very cute Little Elephant bundle from the Annual catalogue which has 2 different sized elephants with a matching punch. I love the checked effect on the elephants which make them so cute.

Today’s sketch is great for using up your stash of Designer Series Paper.

Basic

The Designer Series Paper makes this a very quick card to make to welcome a little baby. Add the main panel of DSP onto Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Stamp the elephant in Soft Sea Foam ink, punch out and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the  punched out circle and Starburst circle.

Add a band of Whisper White cardstock stamped with the sentiment and adhere  faceted dots to embellish this card.

Intermediate

Add extra dimension to the elephant by punching out a ear and attaching it on top. Stamp the check border on the sentiment panel in Pool Party. Then add some flags with strips of DSP around the elephant.  This is a great way of using up scrap pieces of DSP.

Advanced

I have kept the main card the same and stepped up the sentiment panel. Use a strip of Shimmer White cardstock and with an Aqua Painter apply Soft Sea Foam and Night of Navy re-inkers to create a background wash.  Dry between colours to prevent the colours from blending.

Die cut a border and emboss it with the Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder. Then attach this above the water coloured panel.

Hope you have enjoyed today’s card and can give it a try or perhaps an element of it such as the sketch or technique.

May your week be blessed.
