Hi stampers,
It’s great to have you stop by today. If you are following the hop, you will probably be coming from seeing Anastasia’s lovely project. If I’m your first stop, please go through all the blogs as we all have some great inspiration for this blog hop with an interesting theme of Green Monochromatic.
In Stampin’ Up! we are spoiled with the range of colours we have to work with and for this challenge there was an abundance of greens to choose from. This is the green palette I chose.
The first image I had was a ladies pretty dress and I chose the Wonderful Moments stamp set as it was one of the more recent sets I had got and I was keen to get it inked up.
I started off by stamping the little flowers from the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. This is a Sale-A-Bration stamp set which can be earned free with a $90 order.
I stamped the lady over the flowers as I felt this looked more natural than trying to stamp the flowers on top of the dress. I then coloured the dress with Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends. For the final touch, I added some sparkle from the Wink of Stella brush all over the skirt. It just makes this skirt look so pretty and sparkly. My 16 year old daughter, Cassidy, saw it and said she’d love to wear a dress like this.
The Garden Lane Designer Series Paper was a late addition and I think it is perfect for this hop with all the green hues in it. I die cut the panels with the Stitched Rectangle dies. For the Whisper White embossed panel, I extended the die by partially die cutting and then turning and realigning to cut the rest of the panel. This gives me a longer panel than the actual die size.
The additional flowers are from one of my favourites in the Mini Catalogue – the Botanical Prints Product Medley. I coloured and die cut 2 of the bouquets, cutting one in sections to fit over the sentiment. This would make a lovely graduation card.
I hope you have been inspired by my card to try out some monochromatic projects and would love for you to leave me a comment. All products I have used on this card are listed at the bottom of this post. If you live in Australia and don’t have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I would love the opportunity to help you along your creative journey.

Hi friends,
It’s my first time participating in the Colour Combo Blog Hop and I am so excited to be part of it. I love my pinks and for my first challenge I don’t just get 1 but wait … I get 2 pinks to work with.
Welcome to those of you who are visiting me for the first time today and for those of you who are regulars here. I’m so glad you have been able to take some time to stop by and see what I have got to share with you today.
I’ve got a couple of cards today using the Wax Resist technique and the Dressed to Impress bundle. The first card uses Melon Mambo over the Wax Resist Technique. I used a sponge dauber to add Blushing Bride to the perfume bottle which was inspired by one those famous brands!
Wax Resist Technique
Supplies
- Wax paper
- Whisper White cardstock
- Embossing Folder
- 1 piece A3 paper
- Iron
Directions
- Cut your 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock and wax paper to the same size. For these cards I cut mine to 9.3cm x 13.6cm
- Place the wax paper in the embossing folder and emboss as normal. You may need to add an extra shim if it doesn’t have enough pressure going through the die cutting machine. Take your wax paper out of the embossing folder.
- Place wax paper in-between the 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock
- Take an A3 sheet of paper (I used a sheet of grid paper) and fold in half. Place the wax paper/cardstock sandwich within the A3/grid paper.
- Using a very hot iron (no steam), iron over the folded paper, ensuring that you iron over every section of the wax paper. This doesn’t take long. Probably about 20-30 seconds.
- The side of the 2 pieces of cardstock which were facing the wax paper will have the image of the embossing folder. Ensure that you keep those sides facing up as it’s hard to tell which side is embossed. This will give you 2 card fronts.
- Using a sponge dauber, add colour over the embossed card. The wax will ‘resist’ the colour. Using a tissue, wipe over the card to take off any excess ink and it will make the embossed image stand out even more.
This second card has a Blushing Bride Wax Resist base. The shoes were coloured with Stampin’ Write markers and the flowers with a sponge dauber. I love using a sponge dauber to add subtle colour to a project – in this case, I didn’t want the Crushed Curry to be too strong so i just sponged a bit of colour in.
Hope you have enjoyed this technique and I’d love to see you back again for more papercrafting fun. You can find all the products I have used, listed at the bottom of this post.
