Monochromatic Cherry Cobbler – Simply Zinnia

Welcome to this week’s Monochromatic challenge with the Crafty Collaborations team. We are highlighting the rich and regal, Cherry Cobbler. I was leaning towards a Christmas card as this is a gorgeous festive colour, however I chose the Simply Zinnia bundle instead.

I stamped the Zinnia image twice, once in Tuxedo Black and once in Cherry Cobbler. The flowers were coloured in Cherry Cobbler and Real Red Watercolour Pencils and the leaves were shaded in with the Basic Gray Watercolour Pencil.

I fussy cut the around the flowers and mounted them on top of the complete image.

On this card I’ve also added some of the products from our Regal Winter suite from the September – December Mini Catalogue. The beautiful Designer Series Paper and the Specialty Paper in Cherry Cobbler were just perfect for this week’s challenge.

The Drusy Adhesive Backed Embellishments are so sparkly and I love how they add a touch of elegance to this card.

Monochromatic Garden Green – Winterly Tree Tops

Hello and welcome to this week’s Monochromatic inspiration with Garden Green. This would be one of my least used greens however with quite a few of our Designer Series Papers incorporating it, I’ve been using it more often. For my card today, I’m using the Winterly Tree Tops bundle which is part of the Nests of Winter suite in the upcoming September-December Mini Catalogue.

I’ve had this suite for a couple of months now as we got to order it early as part of a demonstrator event. I really love the images in this bundle and the coordinating Designer Series Paper is just beautiful. What really takes this suite over the edge is the trio of coloured Linen Thread in Copper Clay, Garden Green and Night of Navy.

I added some Smoky Slate to my colour palette, with a little bit of Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie to shade in the bird. The berries were coloured with a Garden Green Watercolour Pencil.

The strip of background shapes were die cut from the Nests of Winter and To Market Designer Series Paper and adhered to cardstock embossed with the Birch Wood Embossing Folder. I really like the white space with the pops of green which creates a simple elegance.

To complete the card I added a fussy cut heat embossed sentiment and some Garden Green Linen Thread and embellishments.

Monochromatic Pretty Peacock – Flowers of Beauty

What’s your feeling about Pretty Peacock? Well, I’ll share with you my experience with this colour which is part of our Regals collection and one that we are highlighting for our Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop this week.

Back in 2019, Pretty Peacock came in as one of our 5 new In-Colors for the 2019-2021 range. During that time I had a bit of trouble warming up to this colour and was quite pleased when it’s tenure came to an end! However, it seems like I was in the minority because it returned last year as one of our core colours.

It’s funny how over time one’s tastes and styles can change. I don’t mind Pretty Peacock now and these monochromatic challenges are definitely getting me creating with colours out of my comfort zone.

So for my card today the first element that came together was the 3D flowers.

3D FLOWERS

To create each one, I die cut 3 of the flower shapes from Vellum using the Flowers of Beauty dies. I used the Graceful Greenery Vellum which is in our Online Exclusives range.

Then I coloured each one with Pretty Peacock ink using a Water Painter. Once dry, I went around the edges with a Bone Folder and pushed in the centre with the Bone Folder on a Piercing Mat. This curved the edges up. Then I glued the 3 die cuts together to form the flower.

For added texture I embossed the postage die with one of the Flowers of Beauty dies which formed a beautiful impression on the Cardstock.

Some Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems finish this card off along with a simple sentiment from the Charming Duck Pond stamp set.

Monochromatic Gray Granite – Garden Meadow Bundle

Hello, Welcome to a Monochromatic Saturday with Gray Granite as the featured colour for our weekly Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop. Just like last week, with Night of Navy, I was leaning towards a masculine card however I felt it may be too heavy and in the end opted for a floral card with the Garden Meadow bundle for a fresh feel to this colour.

I started with the beautiful Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder and added some blending with Gray Granite ink over the raised areas. Then I went with smaller elements to fill out my card. The gumboots were stamped onto the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper and I fussy cut them instead of using the coordinating dies as I didn’t want a margin around the edge.

I coloured the watering can in Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends adding some shadow with the Light Basic Black Stampin’ Blend.

Layered die cut circles form the base for these small elements to be arranged around. Using the Choose Happy stamp set, I stamped and fussy cut some flowers from the Nature’s Sweetness DSP.

I die cut some leaves from Gold Foil using the Stippled Roses dies and cut them apart to fit between the flowers. The gold coordinated beautifully with the touches of gold on the flowers.

Until 31st July, every $90 you spend will qualify for a $9 Bonus Days coupon which you can redeem in August.

Monochromatic Night of Navy – Country Flowers

Today’s Monochromatic Insta Hop with the Crafty Collaborations team is focussing on Night of Navy. My first instinct was to create a masculine project and then I had a shift in thinking and chose the Country Flowers bundle.

I cut 4 panels of Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper and added it to Basic White Cardstock, with a second layer behind it.

Then I added a strip of Take to the Sky DSP matte onto White Cardstock across the base layers. I felt this check pattern pulled the design together with it’s simple pattern.

The pot was watercoloured with Night of Navy and Gray Granite ink refills. I added some extra detail with the Night of Navy Watercolour Pencil. In the centre of the die cut flowers I added some light shading with the Night of Navy Watercolour Pencil and topped it with an Opal Round.

A pretty tag from the Greetings of the Season dies hangs off the edge of the pot with some Gray Granite Baker’s Twine to ‘tie’ it onto the pot.
