Hope you are doing well and grabbed a bargain yesterday with that fabulous stamp sale. I got in on it as well. Make sure you’re following my blog and my Facebook Page. I’ve got some fun coming up and you don’t want to miss out on it.
I’m on Day 21 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge (a little bit behind… I’m forgetting what day it is!)! It’s Classic Christmas theme. Oh my, so many choices with traditional red and green, nativity scenes, stars, pine trees, snow … the list is endless.
I went for a classic gold, cream and green colour scheme with a large poinsettia from the Poinsettia Petals bundle as my main image. Just Jade has become my new favourite green and it is a beautiful Christmas green.
The poinsettia was heat embossed in Gold on Whisper White cardstock to stand out against the Very Vanilla background. I embossed the Vellum with the Old World Paper Embossing Folder. Then I brushed the end of the Versamark pad on the back of the paper. I chose the reverse side as this had more areas that were raised with the dry embossing. This made it easier to apply the Versamark.
The sentiment from the For Unto Us stamp set has been heat embossed in Gold as well. I love this sentiment stamp set because of the meaningful sentiments and the beautiful fonts. After consulting with my artistic director (my 17 year old daughter), and deciding the card needed a bit more colour, I die cut a circle from the Designer Series Paper, cut it in half and placed it at the back of the sentiment.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed this card in this month long series. Can’t wait to share with you the next one.

Watercolouring would have to be one of my favourite techniques to use with papercrafting. So I was quite thrilled when I saw that the challenge for Day 20 of Martin Stone’s #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge was to use Watercolouring on a project.
While I await delivery of my next lot of Christmas goodies, I thought I could use one of my non-Christmas stamps to create a seasonal card. I pulled out a favourite, Free as a Bird stamp set and set out to create Robins with my ink refills. I have previously done some watercolouring with this same set of birds. You can see that card here.
I used a combination of Real Red, Calypso Coral, Balmy Blue and Basic Gray to paint them. Watercolouring is such a relaxing technique and gives you such effective results.
I chose the Pinewood Designer Series Paper to coordinate with the Pinewood Embossing Folder.
Some Gold Foil poinsettias with their centres dotted with gold gems make this a more festive card. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set which has so many great sentiments.
If you haven’t given watercolouring a go, get yourself a pack of Water Painters and some ink refills and enjoy this wonderfully relaxing and fun technique.
Day 11 in the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge had us thinking about the flowers that surround us throughout the Christmas season. I couldn’t go past the Poinsettia Petals bundle and created some water coloured poinsettias for this challenge.
I die cut the 3 sizes of petals from Shimmery White cardstock and water coloured them using Real Red and Cherry Cobbler ink. Generally, I would use ink refills for this technique however, this time I inked up a Clear Block and used it like a palette.
Once I had painted my flowers I wanted a corner flourish for it to sit on so I used the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set to create this pretty corner.
A few silver stems and adds a lovely festive look to coordinate with the metallic-edge bow on top.
During September I’m participating in Martin Stone’s #30daychristmascardmakingchallenge so make sure you click on the subscribe button to keep updated with all the cards I’m creating with the fun themes.

Welcome to this month’s Stampers Showcase Blog Hop. I’m hopping with other talented demonstrators from around the world and we are featuring our favourite Holiday Catalogue suite. There are several in this catalogue to choose from so it was a little bit tricky to narrow it down. I don’t know about you but for me It’s a matter of turning the page and saying, ‘I like this one’ and then the next page I look at I say ‘no this one’s my favourite’ and on it goes. So many beautiful things.
I’ve chosen the Toile Tidings Suite to showcase and created a few projects with this beautiful suite. The entire suite comprises of 2 stamp sets and 2 die sets, Designer Series Paper, accessories – even wrapping paper. The colour theme is Real Red, Garden Green and Very Vanilla.
The first card uses the Toile Christmas stamp set and I’ve coloured the images with Stampin’ Blends.
Although the cardinal image is large, it is very easy to colour in and Stampin’ Blends are such an easy colouring medium to work with. I love the gingham Designer Series Paper in this suite. The Toile Tidings DSP is 12″x12″ and there are 2 sheets each of 6 designs. One side is Real Red and the other side has the same design in Garden Green.
For my next card I die cut a Stitched Rectangle and pencil marked the edge of the DSP and then trimmed the overhang. Then I stamped the leaves from the Tidings All Around stamp set.
The poinsettias, die cut leaves and sentiment are from the Cup of Christmas bundle. This stamp and die set has some really cute accessory images, including candy cane, holly leaves, a bow and these poinsettias which coordinate with lots of projects and are perfect for Christmas.
I have adhered a thin strip of DSP under the sentiment and I think it gives the look of ribbon. It’s great for using all those little bits of paper you may have (I think we all do) in your stash.
The gift bag is made from 2 sheets of 12″ Designer Series Paper and I got the instructions from Jackie Bolhuis. It’s very simple to make and a really cute bag to create a coordinate look to match the card.
