Monochromatic Sweet Sorbet – Stippled Roses

Sweet Sorbet is one of my favourite In-Colors from the 2022-2024 range. It’s just a nice red with a hint of pink in it. For my card I tossed up with a couple of stamp sets and just couldn’t go past the Stippled Roses bundle.

The floral image was stamped once in black and once in Sweet Sorbet. Then I fussy cut and layered the flowers. The entire image was layered onto 2 black die cuts of the floral image which were slightly offset from the main image so it created a shadow effect.

The roses look so lovely in Sweet Sorbet and when they are layered they come up so well. A bold image of sun rays in the back really sets off those flowers.

I continued the layering on the sentiment with 2 die cut borders from the Gorgeously Made dies. Offsetting these created a pretty effect. I added some extra detail on the sentiment by using a bit of leftover stamped cardstock from my background.

Father’s Day Trucking Along Card

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday and if you are in Australia you are likely to be enjoying some family time. I hope the special men in your family enjoy a very happy Father’s Day.

The vintage truck from the Trucking Along stamp set was perfect against this background. To colour it, I used a technique which I learned during one of our demonstrator events a couple of months ago where we were shown how to create the look of a rusty old ute.

CREATING THE TRUCK

  • Stamp truck in Saddle Brown Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Paper
  • Using a Water Painter add Wild Wheat ink in sections
  • Once dry, add Pecan Pie
  • Once dry, add Tahitian Tide

Pooling the water in sections will make the colours run creating the look of rust. However don’t over do it as you don’t want the colours to become muddy. I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process between colour applications.

The background created with the Rays of Light stamp set was inked with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. When using a large background stamp, place the stamp face up and ink it then take the paper down to it. Press firmly and rub over it to ensure the ink transfers fully.

To take away the starkness of the white background I lightly blended Pumpkin Pie ink around the rays using a Blending Brush.

Some fussy cut clouds were added to create this mini scene. The rust look was carried through to the banners which were die cut from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog today. I hope you like what I have shared and I would love for you to leave a comment as you leave.

I am off to celebrate Father’s Day with my daughter who insisted on taking me out today as I’ve been doing a double-role of mum and dad. I’m looking forward to a really fun day and spending time with Cassidy. If you follow me on the socials or subscribe to my newsletter, you’re sure to see some photos!

I hope you have a lovely week ahead of you.

Awow Blog Hop – CASE a Team Member – Tag!

This month the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop team are CASEing a team member. What does it mean to CASE? There are a couple of variations that are around in the cardmaking world. Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit. CASEing can be a direct copy of a project or you can take the idea and change it up to your style. It provides inspiration and ideas and can be handy if you’re really stuck in a rut with creativity.

Awow Blog Hop, Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop Header

For me, this is a favourite challenge we do each year with our AWOW team. Our team is made up of such talented members and I love that there is so much inspiration we can gain and much to be learned from each other. It was very exciting watching Angie Mckenzie, who is our leader, do her Facebook Live. There’s always much anticipation each year as to what twist and spin Angie has up her sleeve and of course, who she is going to pair you up with. There’s a lot of planning and thoughtfulness which goes into this.

What I love about our AWOW CASE a team member hops is that Angie encourages us to get to know each other. This is not just another ‘hop’. We form friendships and bonds and care for each other beyond the Stampin’ Up! world because we are able to take time to find out more about the person behind the stamping.

I was paired up with Sharon Burkert from As the Ink Dries. Through the magic of Zoom, Sharon and I were able to find a decent time that worked between Chicago and Melbourne and catch up. We chatted for an hour, learning about each other and it was so good to actually see each other LIVE! This was so exciting for me and I loved this experience. So after chatting about craft rooms, stamping, family and other things we set on the task at hand.

THE BRIEF

  • CASE a team member – We could pick any team member but we couldn’t let the rest of the team know. Top secret!
  • TAG – It’s a collaboration tag team. Our projects had to coordinate with each other in some way
  • MUST HAVE – We had to have ONE colour in common

So how did we go? Sharon suggested we CASE Angie McKenzie from Nature’s Inkspirations and of course I thought this was such a brilliant idea. Angie is the brains behind this blog hop and puts in so much effort each month to ensure all the admin side is organised. It’s hard work keeping a bunch of women under control! She comes up with these amazing themes to keep us inspired and creating and she does all this with grace and kindness. To top it all off she is such a beautiful lady and a special friend.

So, for the Tag part we used a layout from one of Angie’s gorgeous cards. Click here to see how Angie created her card.

Sharon and I both love Lemon Lolly and chose that as our common colour to feature. I can’t wait to see what Sharon has created with this layout.

Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, Awow blog hop, July 2023, Case a team member, Colour Palette

I flipped Angie’s layout to work with a landscape card as I really wanted to use the Rays of Light stamp set. That’s the beauty of CASEing. You can take inspiration and make it your own. I cut down this panel to fit the die cut Radiating Stitches Rectangle which I blended with Lemon Lolly ink. I trimmed the card base on the 14.8 cm side about 1 cm to have an even edge around the frame.

On the circle I heat embossed a white sentiment which was the focal point of the card. I added a cloud border to depict Angie’s notebook edge and replaced the linen thread with gold trim.

As much as I love the Gorgeously Made bundle which Angie has used on her card I tried to be different and chose the Cheerful Daisies bundle as I know Angie loves her some daisies (check out our blog hop header). These were heat embossed in white on Basic White Cardstock then coloured with Bubble Bath and Moody Mauve Stampin’ Blends.

Next on our hop is the talented Cheryll Miller who will have something amazing to share with you. I hope you will be inspired as you hop through with us and take a look at everyone’s creations. Please leave a comment as you go through as we love hearing from you and perhaps you will CASE one of our designs.. I’m excited to find out who everyone is CASEing!

Celebrate at the Beach

Today I’m sharing with you a beachy card which has been inspired by the pretty colours of the Just Add Ink Challenge #659 and the theme at Paper Players Challenge #647.

I love this combination of Pretty Peacock, Coastal Cabana and Lemon Lolly and it inspired me to create this coastal card. I began with watercolouring the strip of shells on Fluid 100 cardstock. Then I fussy cut around the image to create the shell border adding some ‘sea foam’ with Embossing Paste. This is such a fun product to create beautiful texture. On top of this I added a strip of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper which I cut along the guide of the printed torn paper. This added to the textured look of the waves.

With the Rays of Light stamp set I created a two-tone background of Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock. The base layer was blended with Lemon Lolly ink for some sunshine.

The sentiment had an open centre which needed something and using the Radiating Stiches Dies I created a sun which I coloured with a Blending Brush. A few little shells were die cut from Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper. This gave them some lovely (and easy) shading and finished the card off well.

If you live in Australia and would like to make this card, these products are available to be purchased from my Online Store. Alternately, you can contact me and I can place the order for you.

Thank you for stopping by and I’d love to hear what you think of this card so please leave me a comment.

Circle Sayings with Rays of Light Background

Don’t you love the soft colours of Colour Palette #9? It includes Lemon Lolly, a pretty yellow from our new range. I created a minimalist card to feature these pretty colours.

I’ve used the new Circle Sayings bunde and stamped the image twice in Balmy Blue and Lost Lagoon, fussy cutting part of it to layer the waves. This bundle has a range of sentiments and images which are great for creating quick cards.

The background has been created with the Rays of Light stamp set which is one I had been wanting for a while. I finally ordered it. The markings on the rays give it such a rustic look and added some white heat embossing along the edges to create a look of sea foam.

I hope you have enjoyed this creation and if you would like to play along with any of these colour palettes, just hop onto my Facebook page and add your project in the comments.
