Freshly Made Sketches #497

Freshly Made Sketches FMS497, Stampin' Up!, SU, Sailing Home, Smooth Sailing, Card Sketch, Card Layout

I’ve got a card for the guys today, inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. I picked up the Sailing Home stamp set that has been around for a little while now to create my main images. For those of you who know me, most times, I will get those beachy sets in our catalogues as I love working with them.

My card began with a piece of scrap I had leftover after creating my Card Club cards for this month. The white cardstock embossed with the Bark embossing folder became the vertical strip on my card.

I scraped the edges of this strip along the Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy pastels to create the coloured border.

The compass was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in White on the background. Then I added Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy Pastels over it with my Blending Brush. This was blended on the bottom left and top right for continuity.

I stamped the anchor in Bermuda Bay and edged with the Night of Navy pastel to create the two-tone effect. The rope was die cut from Crumb Cake cardstock to coordinate with the Crumb Cake mat I added under the main layer.

The sentiment was heat embossed on Pacific Point cardstock as the Night of Navy pastel when applied, had a more vibrant tone as that of Pacific Point. Poppy Parade sails add a pop of colour to make this card have a marine look.

The Crumb Cake layer was mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add more depth.

Come Sail Away Post-it-Note Holder

This past weekend I had the pleasure of hosting a lovely group of ladies at my Annual catalogue launch which was actually a big crafty party. We crafted, chatted, played games, laughed, enjoyed some yummy food and just had a really good time.

I prepared a goody bag for each of my guests. Inspiration for contents came from a fellow demonstrator but I don’t have her name as I only saved the photo. Each year I enjoy filling up the goody bags … it’s a bit like a Christmas stocking! I have as much fun decorating them as I do picking what goes in each of these bags.

Goodie bags filled with items from Stampin Up catalogue for launch

This year my theme was the Come Sail Away suite. The ideas on the catalogue cover had me fall in love with t,his suite from the start. I made a tag using the new Delightful Tag Topper Punch and stamped and die cut elements to decorate the bag. I also decorated a Post-it-Note holder to match following instructions from Sam Donald.

Take a piece of cardstock that measures 8×3.5″ and score it at 2, 2 3/8, 5 1/2 and 5 7/8 inches (9 x 20cm and score at 5, 6, 14 and 15 cm). Then just decorate and embellish as you like.

Come Sail Away Memories & More Card

The card I’ve got for you today is from a batch I created this past weekend when I was creating like I was going to run out of DSP (like that’s going to happen!).I am so excited for my Annual Catalogue Launch and Craft Party which is happening this Saturday. I hope you are too and have booked your place for this fun event. Preparation is in full swing and I have been creating lots of samples for you to look at. Last Sunday I did a 14 hour crafting shift in my pjs. Awesome! It was longer than working hours but I didn’t feel it. Crafting makes me happy and relaxes me (but I’ve still got a 100 things to do for Saturday!). If you haven’t let me know you”re coming, please drop me a message. We are going to have a fun afternoon together.

The instant I saw the front cover of the Annual Catalogue, all those blue cards got my attention. The lighthouses, sailing boats, ocean themed cards immediately drew me and I knew the Come Sail Away suite was going to be a favourite of mine. This is a card I’ve created using the Come Sail Away Memories & More Card Pack. This pack comes with varying sized cards, laser cut images such as the one I’ve used on this card and also stickers.

I love the texture of the laser cut cards. One side is white, while the other side has a white-washed look and that’s what I chose to show on this card. I backed it with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock which really made this image pop. The sentiment is die cut with the stitched tag which is from the matching framelits. I stamped the rope in balmy Blue over the sentiment.

All the elements have been layered on a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock which has been embossed with the lovely High Seas 3D embossing folder. This is a new style embossing folder and will need to be sandwiched through your die cutting machine differently.

Watch this video for some tips on using the new style 3D embossing folders and dies.

If, like me, you love ALL the products in this suite, the new catalogue makes it easy with a one-product-number ordering system. This item number and other products used are all listed below. Try out the Memories & More card packs and see how easy it is to make a batch of cards.
