Sea of Textures Reverse Masking Technique
Inspiration can come from the strangest things. I had this scrap piece of cardstock from which I had die cut an oval. In true crafter fashion I said ‘I won’t throw this. One day I’ll create something with it’. Do you do this as well? Today’s card is the result of me saving all those spare bits of cardstock – some may call it hoarding!
My new Sea of Textures bundle has been waiting patiently on my desk to be used. I wanted to create an underwater scene in greens and blues and worked on achieving this background with a sponge brayer.
The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set. Although it can be suited for any occasion, I think this would make a lovely get well or sympathy card with the soft colours.
Details for creating the image –
- Die cut an oval from Whisper White cardstock. Place a tiny drop of liquid glue on each end of the back and leave to dry a few minutes. This will make it tacky and should be sufficient to keep the cardstock from shifting.
- Place die cut panel onto a Whisper White matte
- Apply Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue and Tranquil Tide using sponge brayer to create the graduated colour
- Stamp the sea grass in Tranquil Tide, netting in Crumb Cake stretching from the left to bottom right of oval and some small coral in Early Espresso.
- Then take the mask off.
- Stamp and die cut 3 large coral from Crumb Cake cardstock. Die cut 2 small coral from copper foil. Arrange these and attach with liquid glue and mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp sentiment in Early Espresso
- Attach the entire panel with Dimensionals onto Soft Sea Foam cardstock
