AWOW Blog Hop – This or That Country Flowers

This or That? I wonder what you will pick in our challenge today? It’s the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop (AWOW for short) and this month we are sharing not just 1 but 2 projects with our This or That April challenge.

It could be different orientations of the same layout, perhaps different colours, alternate Designer Series Papers, different colouring mediums – the possibilities are endless. I’ve chosen the new Country Flowers bundle from the upcoming 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue for my This or That projects and went with varied interior decor styles.

We need YOU to participate today by commenting and letting us know whether you pick This or That!

THIS – SHABBY CHIC

For my first project I went with a shabby chic style with soft pinks and white. I used Watercolour Pencils to colour in my image.

Of course there had to be a doily in there for a beautiful country look. On top of that I added some Cardstock which I had treated with Embossing Paste I coloured with Pretty in Pink. First I applied a layer with a Palette Knife and then I added more paste through a mask. Once it dried I used my finger to dab on a little more ink over the panel. This was then torn to create a rustic look.

THAT – COASTAL

When I saw this particular background I immediately though of the beach. I’ve kept the layout the same as the previous card. Alternating the leaves for the flowers fit the coastal vibe and colours.

Along with the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, I’ve also used the new So Swirly Embossing Folder. Keep an eye out for this Embossing Folder in the new releases. It’s a large 6″ x 8 1/2″ (15.2 x 21.6 cm). I added the surfboard and life buoy from the Beach Day bundle for an extra beachy feel.

I will be recreating this particular card on my FB Live tonight at 7:30 AEST. Replay will also be available on YouTube later on today.

Now, it’s your turn to let me know what your favourite is. I can’t wait to hear your selection. As for me, I don’t know what my favourite is 😂 as I really enjoyed creating them both.

Thank you so much for stopping by my corner of the world in Melbourne. I hope you enjoy all the beautiful inspiration you are going to be treated to today as you travel Around the World with us.

Next on our hop is my friend Cheryll Miller and I know she will have something amazing to share with you.

Shabby Chic Birthday Card

For the start to our working week I’ve got a bit of a shabby chic birthday card to share with you inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

The floral image was fussy cut from the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper. This is a Black and White monochromatic pack of 12″ x 12″ paper which gives you loads of options. I’ve even used a little strip of it on the label behind the flowers.

The image was coloured in Watercolour Pencils. The colours I used are listed below.

  • Daffodil Delight
  • Calypso Coral
  • Granny Apple Green
  • Garden Green
  • Coastal Cabana

To create the distressed look on the layers, I ran the edge of my paper snips right along the edges. This card has got lots of texture and it’s fully loaded with Stampin’ Dimensionals for some fabulous depth.

If you want to know more details, please get in touch with me. Want to order the products to make this card? Full list of supplies are at the bottom of this post. Orders can be placed online or by giving me a call. I’d love to help you out.

Sketchtember Challenge – Day 11 Shabby Chic Cottage Wreath

As I look at today’s card for Sketcchtember Day 11 I feel it’s a bit shabby chic. I didn’t start out aiming for this but the sheet I chose from the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper set the tone for it. Do you find the creative process taking you somewhere completely different to where you had planned? Isn’t that the fun of creating!

With a colour palette of Blushing Bride, Gray Granite and White this card has a soft look to it. I layered the vellum detailed wreath on a full wreath to make the script more visible. The wreath underweath was distressed on the edges with Gray Granite using a sponge dauber and I cut off any excess that was protruding in the centre from under the Vellum.

Some Blushing Bride leaves were stamped and die cut and interwoven with smaller silver leaves.

I added 2 small bits of ribbon with glue dots under the sprigs to give the effect of a bow. This gave it less bulk than having the knot of the bow in there (I did try it!). To top off my little foliage arrangement I added a cute bow which is part of the Country Wreath Dies.

The Cottage Wreath bundle is one of the bundle we’ll be using in our FREE VIRTUAL EVENT for World Cardmaking Day. See all the details below.
