Colour Combo Blog Hop – Silhouette Scenes
Welcome to our March Colour Combo Blog Hop. As I saw this colour palette, I was reminded of a sunset and I wanted to recreate on my card for this hop.
The Silhouette Scenes stamp set and coordinating Sweet Silhouette Dies immediately came to mind for the backdrop I had envisioned. I used my Blending Brushes to blend a background on Basic White cardstock with Mango Melody, Petal Pink and Terracotta Tile.
If you haven’t tried the Blending Brushes, I highly recommend them as they blend so beautifully and seamlessly. They are soft to touch and sturdy. For $21 you get 3 brushes so they are really great value. You can rinse them under warm water, air dry and use them again.
The idea was to emboss the little girl on the swing directly onto my blended background. However, things didn’t quite go to plan as my embossing refused to cooperate. So I worked around it. I cut a strip of blended piece of cardstock as I didn’t want to waste it. The beautiful Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper has a sheet which blended with the colours of this challenge and that provided the background for my strip of blended cardstock.
The girl on the swing was inked up in Versamark ink then immediately in Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped the image on the DSP. Clear Embossing Powder was added over this and heat set. I really love this nostalgic image and the sentiment that goes with it.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this card and would love for you to leave a comment if you like what you have seen or give it a try. Click on the Next button to view Susan Simpson’s project using this pretty colour combo.
