Monochromatic Mossy Meadow – Planted Paradise

Today for the Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop we are featuring one of the least used colours in my collection. Poor old Mossy Meadow doesn’t get much of a look in generally but today, it’s front and centre on my card.

When I work with a rather strong colour, I like to tone it down with a softer neutral. In this case – Gray Granite. I really like how these 2 colours blended.

I stamped the leaves onto a label die cut using the Countryside Corners dies. On the base of this I added a piece of Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper and a strip of Basic White Cardstock coloured with Soft Pastels.

How to create the white panel

Use the Mossy Meadow Soft Pastel on the length to drag across the strip of Cardstock, filling it in with the colour. Then turn the Pastel vertical so the small square end is against the Cardstock. Draw lines at varied heights to create an interesting panel.

I created a Faux Suede panel for the background. This is done by scrunching up Cardstock and breaking down the fibres with a bone folder. In time, the Cardstock will peel apart, giving you 2 halves. I’ve used one half on this card and have one left for another project.

A few silver pearls strewn around work in with the Gray Granite and the check DSP.

I hope this project inspires you to perhaps try out a technique you haven’t tried before. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely Saturday.

Alter your Stamps to Create Fun Backgrounds

We’re into a new week and despite being in lockdown I’ve just had the most brilliant weekend. I’ve had the pleasure of being on Craft Alive and the Be Inspired Online Market. If you are on Facebook, please join the market group to enjoy all the fun we are having with many vendors there. Please follow me on Facebook and subscribe to my YouTube channel where you can see all my videos.

This week I’m working with our range of colouring mediums. We have many and with our colour coordinated products, it’s so easy to create great projects.

Product of the Week Colouring mediums

Today I’m featuring our new product, Soft Pastels. This cute card uses a fun colour combo and the What’s Cookin’ bundle goes well with this as I think it’s very cheerful.

I had this idea of creating a background with the chef’s hats however they were all in a row. What was one to do, except cut them apart! Then I placed the 3 hats, at various angles on 1 Clear Block and inked them up in Coastal Cabana and I was able to quickly stamp a fun background.

It was my first time using the Soft Pastels. They are fun – it’s like being a kid again! Anyway, I tried something. I coloured the tag, which was die cut from Shimmery White cardstock, with the pastels. Then I used a Water Painter and this brightened up the colour. Some Polished Pink Shimmer Vellum on the back and this makes a great card to brighten someone’s day.

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop – Splish! Splash!

We are making waves today in the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop. In Melbourne we are in the middle of winter and far from splashing around weather. Perhaps this will make you think of warmer days!

Stamping Inkspirations Blog Header

I’ve combined some old and new products for my card. I created the waves background using the scalloped border from the Scalloped Contours Dies. Starting at the top with the lightest blue and a blending brush, this fun background came about.

I stamped the whale in Versamark and heat embossed in White Embossing Powder. Then I opened up my brand new box of Soft Pastels. These are so much fun to work with. I can see myself using these a lot. I coloured the whale with Coastal Cabana and Night of Navy and then rubbed the colour back with a tissue. This also blended the colour nicely.

For some definition, I added some colour with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. For the finishing touch the whale was heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder for a nice shine.
