Watercoloured Christmas Birds
Watercolouring would have to be one of my favourite techniques to use with papercrafting. So I was quite thrilled when I saw that the challenge for Day 20 of Martin Stone’s #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge was to use Watercolouring on a project.
While I await delivery of my next lot of Christmas goodies, I thought I could use one of my non-Christmas stamps to create a seasonal card. I pulled out a favourite, Free as a Bird stamp set and set out to create Robins with my ink refills. I have previously done some watercolouring with this same set of birds. You can see that card here.
I used a combination of Real Red, Calypso Coral, Balmy Blue and Basic Gray to paint them. Watercolouring is such a relaxing technique and gives you such effective results.
I chose the Pinewood Designer Series Paper to coordinate with the Pinewood Embossing Folder.
Some Gold Foil poinsettias with their centres dotted with gold gems make this a more festive card. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set which has so many great sentiments.
If you haven’t given watercolouring a go, get yourself a pack of Water Painters and some ink refills and enjoy this wonderfully relaxing and fun technique.
