Just Add Ink Colour Challenge #613

For today’s card I’ve been inspired by the Colour Challenge at Just Add Ink with a beautiful colour palette of Mint Macaron, Fresh Freesia and Starry Sky.

I went bold by blending Starry Sky on Basic White Cardstock for my matte layer. A wave and some dots were heat embossed in white to compliment the shell. I used my Stamparatus (our stamp positioning tool) to stamp the wave as I only wanted to stamp part of the image and it allowed me to re-stamp should I have needed to.

The shell was watercoloured with Fresh Freesia and Starry Sky. I inked up a Clear Block which acted as my palette. I find that this method gives me more control for watercolouring.

The leaves were coloured with Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends, providing a soft contrast against the bold background.

If you would like to get started with watercolouring, I’ve put together a pack that gets you the basics. It’s a great time to get started with July being World Watercolouring Month. This pack is customisable to suit your crafting needs. Click on the image to order and amend as required.

A Peaceful Place to Enjoy Your Day

A running stream, a shady tree, ferns, hills just make me think of relaxing. I tend to get drawn to any stamps which have images of scenery in them. Peaceful Place was no different.I just love the tranquility that this image evokes. It makes me think of sitting under that tree and enjoying a picnic. Wouldn’t you just love to sit a while and relax there?

Scenic card with Stampin' Up! Peaceful Place stamp set, water colours

For this card I did a lot of water colouring – sitting watching tv and crafting, adding layers of colour until I achieved the colours that I wanted. I enjoy colouring in so this was quite relaxing for me. I’ve been using Stampin’ Blends a lot and it was nice to change it up with Water Colours.

Top Tip
Make sure you use Stazon ink (because it stays on)
when water colouring to ensure colours don’t run.

I mixed Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point for the stream and the hills were coloured in Old Olive with touches of Bermuda Bay added for shading. The sentiment was heat embossed in White and mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Water coloured Peaceful Place stamp set on Shimmery White cardstock

Scenic stamps are a great way to bring out the artist in you. I am in no way good at drawing but I love colouring in and stamps like Peaceful Place work for me.
