AWOW Blog Hop – Outside the Box

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) Blog Hop for June .On the second Wednesday of each month we share a virtual hug around the world. As we celebrate 5 years of this amazing blog hop, which was lovingly created by Angie McKenzie of Nature’s Inkspirations, we continue with CASEing our fellow team members.

For our third month, we are CASEing an alumni member, Mikaela Titheridge. Mikaela uses dies and stamps in imaginative ways and it was our turn to think ‘outside the box’. As I was working out what to create for this project, there were so many beautiful cards of Mikaela’s that I just could have CASEd as I just love her style. However, I wanted to take on the challenge of looking at my stamps and dies in a new way- chanelling my inner Mikaela!

As I flicked through my dies, the Meant to Bee die set caught my eye. The negative of the bee wings in this set looked like bunny ears to me. So I set about creating a baby card and of course there had to be one for a baby girl and one for a baby boy.

I die cut the bee wings from Basic White Cardstock and coloured the remaining negative with Stampin’ Blends to create the bunny ears.

Then I die cut the grass strip from the Scenic Adventure Dies from Fluid 100 Cardstock and watercoloured it with Soft Sea Foam and Shy Shamrock ink refills, using a Water Painter. The bunny ears were then tucked in around the grass.

Rows of flowers, also from the Scenic Adventure Dies, were coloured in Soft Sea Foam and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to add a pop of brightness to these soft, pastel coloured cards.

The sentiment from the Storybook Friends stamp set was stamped in the coordinating colour for each card. While I’ve used a baby sentiment here, this design could easily be adapted into a sweet Easter card too! I finished each card with the Rainbow Dots, which tied everything together beautifully with their perfect colour match.
