AWOW Blog Hop – Turkish Map Fold with Collage Technique
Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday (AWOW) blog hop forDecember. Our theme this month is a Fun Fold with a Technique. This year we celebrated 5 years of this blog hop which was commenced and is lovingly organised by our leader Angie McKenzie and we are thrilled to have Angie hopping back with us after a few months break.

For our ninth month, we are CAS(e)ing our Canadian team member, Tina Zinck-MacDonald. I have been a keen follower of Tina for many years and love the way she shares so many techniques and variations on them. I remember this card from waaay back and what I loved about it was the collage look.
As I researched Tina’s work to CASE for this project, I was surprised to see that this creation was from 2019 which goes to show, it really made an impression on me. The technique itself is called the Art Squared technique. Click on the card image to see the details of Tina’s card.

For my creation I am using a brand new stamp set from the upcoming January Online Exclusive releases. The Unbridled Beauty Stamp Set is the first product that I purchased from all of the new products. It’s a favourite. While I haven’t recreated Tina’s Art Squared technique on my card, I have used several images in varying sizes to create a collage effect and added some ink blending as well which is similar to Tina’s card.
I’ve also created a new-to-me fold – the Turkish Map Fold which I hadn’t heard of until a couple of weeks ago. It is so fun and you can see a quick video below on how to create the fold.

I have used lots of small stamp images and and some Copper heat embossing to decorate the inside of my card. The Country Woods Designer Series Paper was perfect for this stamp set and this particular sheet is my favourite of the pack.

I added a little bit of ink blending on the top and kept the image of the horse just as a line image without any colouring as I felt there was a lot going on in the card.
I layered a strip of Elegant Pine Snowflake Designer Series Paper and Pecan Pie Cardstock which I had leftover from a Faux Suede technique which added to the country feel of this card. Some stars from the Good Times Mix & Match Ephemera Pack complete this, sentiment-less card! Yep – I forgot one – probably because there was quite a lot of visual interest. However, this is a good thing (see the positive) because it lets me pick what occasion I can use this for but I know I have a sister-in-law in mind who would absolutely love this for her birthday so I’m pretty sure it’s going to end up being a birthday card!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy trying out this fold.
