On page 16-17 of the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue, you will find a display of our Mix & Match products. I just love the projects on these pages and the Ephemera Packs that are offered in this catalogue are beautiful. For today’s CASEing the Catty Challenge CTC487 we are CASEing a project from these pages.

I CASEd the card bases which are shown on these pages. The Gold Dipped Mix & Match Cards & Envelopes are perfectly coordinated for our range of ephemera and will create quick cards. However, I set about creating my own card bases using inks and embossing powder.

To create this effect you need 2 ink colours from the same colour range – blues, reds, pinks etc. I started with a piece of Basic White Cardstock.

  • Blend Blueberry Bushel ink lightly with a Blending Brush about halfway across the Cardstock
  • Swip the Blueberry Bushel ink pad lightly down the Cardstock (use the edge of the ink pad without a lip)
  • Turn the Cardstock around and repeat the swiping so the ink is applied well on the opposite end too.
  • Next, swipe the Night of Navy ink pad top to bottom and repeat from bottom to top. This section will be larger than the Blueberry Bushel area.
  • Dry completely or use heat gun to speed up the drying process
  • Swipe the Versamark ink pad along the edge of Cardstock to create an uneven border.
  • Heat emboss in Gold. I repeated this process a couple more times to get a thicker edge.

For this card I also added a little bit of Balmy Blue fading out towards the left edge.

I used the edge of the largest frame from the Radiating Stitches dies to create a border from Night of Navy Cardstock. This was adhered to a strip of Designer Series Paper from the A Little Bit Festive pack of specialty paper. This pack contains 3 sheets of double sided paper and 3 sheets of die cuts, some of which I used on this card.

One of the die cut wreaths was cut in half and added under my border strips. I just love the little drums from these die cuts which are super cute. The white layer was adhered to a Blueberry Bushel matte layer which I blended Blueberry Bushel ink around to create a contrast from the card base.

A Gold ribbon and some peppermint embellishments complete this fun card. I love how the stripes on the peppermints worked in with the stripes on my paper.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you try this fun technique and see what fun colour palettes you create. Next on our hop is Michelle Strazds.
