Welcome to another focus on colour with this week’s Monochromatic Insta Hop feature for Blackberry Bliss. This project has been a journey, I tell you!
I must admit, I struggled with this colour and I didn’t realise, until this project, that Blackberry Bliss and I aren’t close friends! Whenever I use it, it’s sparingly with other colours so featuring it alone was tricky.
GILDED DISTESSED BACKGROUND
I started off with the distressed background which I just loved creating. First, I blended Blackberry Bliss ink over the entire piece of Basic White Cardstotck, leaving some lighter areas, Then I added Pebbled Path ink inbetween which gave it, almost a, singed look. The Cardstock was then scrunched up and I added some Pebbled Path to the folded areas.
The Cardstock was left to dry well. Next I wanted to add some Gold embossing so I tapped my Embossing Buddy over the entire piece of Cardstock to take away any wet areas that may have been there. I dropped some Versamark ink refill onto the pad and applied the refill with a paintbrush over the folded areas. Then I heat embossed Gold Embossing Powder onto it. This provided a nice thick coating. For an extra layer of embossing which had a more roughed up look, I took the Versamark ink pad and rubbed it directly onto the paper. This gave a more uneven texture and this too was heat embossed in Gold.
I embossed a matte layer of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock with the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder. Then I added some ink blending with Blackberry Bliss and this gave it a different tone and provided contrast against the card base.
Underneath the smaller panels of gold embossing, I added a strip of lace from the Chantilly Lace stamp set. I bought this stamp set purely for this image – I loved it that much! A gold embossed cake and a gold ribbon complete this opulent looking card which would be great for a wedding.
I hope you have enjoyed this fun technique I’ve shared with you today. Is Blackberry Bliss one of your favourites and will you be recreating this card? Leave me a comment as I’d love to know.

Welcome to the Caseing the Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. For CTC470 we are CASEing the colours of the Frames & Flowers Designer Seriees Paper. This specialty paper pack is a 12″ x 12″ pack with 3 sheets of double sided paper and 3 sheets of paper with die-cut greenery elements.
There are several colours in this DSP, so picking a combination was fun. These are the colours in the images – Early Espresso, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Lost Lagoon, Old Olive, Petal Pink, Pretty Peacock, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce, Soft Sea Foam.
Here’s what I ended up with.
I used the Enduring Beauty stamp set, masks and dies to create a focal image. The flowers were blended in Lost Lagoon. For the extra detail I added more colour to create a deeper shade.
The leaves were blended in Soft Sea Foam with a little bit of Garden Green at the bottom. The veins of the leaves were detailed with a touch of Shaded Spruce.
I used a strip of the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper for the small panel on the right. This was embossed with the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder. On this I added some Pretty Peacock ink with a sponge dauber.
In my stash, I had a panel of Fluid 100 Cardstock which I had painted with Tuxedo Black ink refill using a Water Painter. I cut a thin strip of this and adhered it to some Basic White Cardstock. From this I die cut a label on which the sentiment was stamped.
I added a bird from the Something for Everything Ephemera Pack which I coloured with my Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends. To complete the card I included some Petal Pink Foiled Gems. So, I ended up using 6 of the colours!
Next on our hop is Peta Stephen. Please follow through our hop for lots of amazing projects.

Welcome to the New at SU blog for May. This month our projects will feature the 2024-2026 In-Colors. These 5 colours of Pretty in Pink, Peach Pie, Shy Shamrock, Summer Splash and Petunia Pop are a lovely addition to our colour range.
For my card I’m using the Citrus Blooms bundle and featuring Peach Pie and Shy Shamrock from the new In-Colors. I stamped the image in Stazon Black ink on Fluid 100 Cardstock. Using a Water Painter, I coloured the image in.
For the oranges I used Peach Pie and Pumpkin Pie and the leaves were coloured with Soft Sea Foam and Shy Shamrock. I also added some shading with Early Espresso. Around the image I created a light wash with Lemon Lolly. On the flowers I also added some extra details using the Crushed Curry Watercolour Pencil.
Once I die cut the main image, I used the outer area which I had watercoloured with Lemon Lolly to die cut the smaller flowers.
On the White matte, I stamped the sentiment ‘dear friend’ several times in Soft Sea Foam ink. Then I heat embossed the leaves from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set in Basic White. Over this I blended Shy Shamrock ink for an Emboss Resist effect bringing out those leaves.
A label die cut from the Countryside Corners dies was blended with Soft Sea Foam ink. I cut this label and added a small portion of it under the white label. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on the remainder of the ink-blended label which created a cohesive look tying in the elements under the oranges.
Thank you for taking the time to visit and check out my project. Please make sure you follow our hop for lots of great ideas for putting those new colours to use.

All set with about 3/4 sheet of A4 Moody Mauve Cardstock I was ready for this challenge! I had to get creative with ink today for the Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop. I must say, I’ve been a bit moody with Moody Mauve. When I first saw it in the Annual Catalogue, I thought this would be my most used In-Color BUT it didn’t turn out that way. Hence the low supply of Cardstock.
As I looked through my stamp sets, the idea of a Moody Mauve wreath really appealed to me and then I had to decide whether I wanted to stamp it or die cut it out of my 3/4 sheet of A4 Cardstock! Well, I did both and actually preferred the stamped version for this card.
Now I had to decide what was going to happen with that wreath and I went with a shimmer bow – a double one. Both were die cut from Bubble Bath Shimmer Cardstock. The bottom one was coloured with the Dark Moody Mauve Stampin’ Blend.
TIP: When colouring the Shimmer Cardstock with Stampin’ Blends hold it still with the Take Your Pick Tool. When you hold it with your fingers the colour keeps rubbing off. Leave it to dry and then it will be good to go.
MOODY MAUVE HEARTS
With a Water Painter and Moody Mauve ink refill, create a wash on Fluid 100 Cardstock
Add some darker sections as well
Leave to dry
Take the Painted Lavender stamp set and using the image with stems, ink up just the bottom part of the stems with Versamark ink
Stamp several of these lines randomly across the watercoloured Cardstock
Heat emboss in Silver
Die cut with heart from Cracker & Treat Box dies
I interspersed these hearts and some others die cut from Naturally Gilded Specialty DSP to add the silver highlights. A silver bow completes my Moody Mauve creation. I hope you have enjoyed it.

Hi friends, It’s been a beautiful day here in Melbourne with the sun is shining as we see out the tail end of winter. Yesterday I held my Lovely Leaves class which was so much fun. I had someone who attend who is quite new to cardmaking. It always makes me so happy to see the thrill as someone sees their project come together. I think that joy and excitement of seeing a finished project is there no matter how many years you have been creating. I’ve been known to hold my project at arms length, grin and nod in excitement acknowleding my approval and happiness at what I’ve just created after spending hours fussing over it!
Today my card has been inspired by the challenges at Global Design Project #gdp408 and Freshly Made Sketches #fms600. For the GDP challenge we are CASEing the designer – the incredibly talented Emma Goddard.
CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit
The summery feel of Emma’s card appealed to me and I chose a few of thse colours to work with on my card.
As I started pulling out the ink pads to work with, my mind immediately went to the Beauty of the Deep bundle. Don’t ask me why but my mind does some crazy things sometimes! As you can see this is not really an underwater colour scheme, apart from the Lost Lagoon but that is what a challenge is all about. I do love creating pink, girly cards from stamp sets that I would generally gear towards a masculine card.
The large plant was stamped in Lost Lagoon while the 2 corals were die cut from Basic White Cardstock. These were then blended with Melon Mambo and Fresh Freesia ink using a Blending brush.
To resemble the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches who are celebrating their 600th challenge, I added a Basic White panel die cut using the Seaside Bay dies and blended with Daffodil Delight. On top of this, a strip of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper, trimmed along the printed torn edge and blended with Daffodil Delight along the edge, was added.
I heat embossed the sentiment from A Quiet Meadow stamp set in Black and coordinated it with a heat embossed fish. A panel of the Delightful Eclectic Designer Series Paper placed between two embossed panels of Cardstock adds a constrast layer against the pastel shades of the card.
You can recreate this card with the products listed at the bottom of this post. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope you have a great week ahead.
If you have any questions or need any help, please get in touch with me.
If you would like more inspiration with the Beauty of the Deep bundle, make sure you register for our August Class in the mail where you will get a kit to create 4 cards. For more information click on the image.
