Monochromatic Petal Pink – More Than Autumn

Happy Saturday! Welcome to this week’s Monochromatic challenge which is actually an Insta Hop with the Crafty Collaborations team. The featured colour today is Petal Pink. This is a colour that over the years has ‘grown on me’. I rather like it teamed with gold for Christmas however today I’ve gone with an all occasion card using the More than Autumn bundle.

I chose a few images to cluster together on a background embossed with the Leaf Fall embossing folder. Around the images, I lightly blended the background with Petal Pink ink.

The cocoa cup was paper-pieced with Designer Series Paper from the Flowering Zinnias DSP pack. I added some shading with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends on the top and bottom of the cup. The centre was coloured with Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends. The cream was glittered with Wink of Stella.

I wanted to create the look of toasted marshmallows so I stamped the image in Pecan Pie ink. Then using a Blender Pen, I pulled in some of the colour into the marshamllows, which gave them a toasted colour.

I created a customised sentiment by adding the ‘best’ from another sentiment in the set. The sentiment was stamped on Basic White Cardstock and then I coloured it in with a Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend. This gives a softer tone rather than stamping directly on coloured Cardstock.

I added some splatters of Petal Pink and Wink of Stella around the white space. The sentiment was staggered and who wouldn’t love to receive a take away cup that says ‘BEST’? That’s sure to lift someone’s day.

A supply list is below and these are available in my Online Store and can be purchased Australia wide.

Painted Trees Embossed Card for Freshly Made Sketches FMS652

Today I’ve got a CAS (clean and simple) card with an embossed feature using the Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folder.

The embossed panel was die cut with a circle from the Spotlight on Nature dies and layered with another circle die cut from the Stylish Shapes dies.

My card has been inspired by sketch FMS652 at Freshly Made Sketches. I used the Snowy Scenes and Sentimental Christmas Designer Series Papers and a strip of Pool Party Cardstock to create the border at the bottom.

FMS Final 652, Freshly Made Sketches, Card Sketch, Card layout

The trees are from A Little Bit Festive Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack which comes with 3 sheets of double sided paper and 3 sheets of die cut images all ready to add to your projects.

On the base of my card, I heat embossed the snowflakes in white and then blended Pool Party ink lightly over the top for an emboss resist effect.

The sentiment was heat embossed on another die cut panel from the same pack of paper. I added a few splatters on the top right with my Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend to coordinate with the sentiment panel. A cute bow and some Pool Party dots complete this quick make card. ;

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you.

Monochromatic Cajun Craze -Iconic Imagery

Welcome to the weekend friends, We’re kicking off our Saturday with Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop challenge. This week we are featuring Cajun Craze which is part of our Regals collection. I love this deep, rich colour and used it in a variety of ways on my card today using the Iconic Imagery bundle.

Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop, Cajun Craze

I started with 6 pieces of the Iconic Celebrations Designer Series Paper. These were slightly longer on one side and I arranged them evenly on an Early Espresso matte layer.

HOW TO CREATE CENTRE LABEL

  • Cut 1cm strips of Iconic Celebrations DSP
  • Adhere to Basic White Cardstock
  • Die cut with the label die
  • Emboss with Painted Texture Embossing Folder
  • Using a Blending Brush, go over the raised areas of the image with Early Espresso ink
  • Go around the outer edges of the die cut using a Blending Brush with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake ink
  • Die cut a label from Crumb Cake Cardstock
  • Cut this in half and adhere under the striped label to form a matte

I set out to use a Cajun Craze card base for my card base but found the colour a bit too deep for the look I was going for. Instead of changing my design, I decided to get creative with ink blending. By blending Petal Pink Cardstock with Cajun Craze ink, I achieved a lighter shade of Cajun Craze that perfectly complemented my card.

Once I had done this I needed another element that blended in with this tone so I die cut the large leaf from Petal Pink Cardstock and blended with Cajun Craze and Early Espresso ink. Around this I added several other stamped and die cut autumn leaves.

I cut apart the gold ribbon and added strands under the heat embossed sentiment to add a striking contrast against all the rich Cajun Craze elements.

I hopey you have enjoyed this creation and you can find a fully supply list at the bottom of this post. If you live in Australia, you can shop supplies in my Online Store or by getting in touch with me.

Have a lovely day.

Monochromatic Basic Gray – Frosted Forest CAS Card

I’m a bit of a Basic Gray fan as I tend to use it when I want a softer alternate to Black. For today’s Crafty Collaborations Insta Hop I went with a CAS card – Clean and Simple and used the Frosted Forest bundle to create it.

Crafty Collaborations, Monochromatic Insta hop Basic Gray

I die cut 3 rectangles from the Deckled Rectangles dies to create equal panels across the front. These were embossed with the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder – a new product available in our September-December Mini Catalogue. This is one of my must-haves as it’s so versatile. I added it to a Basic Gray panel.

Then I die cut the trees from the Frosted Forest dies. This bundle has a stamp and die set and layering stencils to create beautifully shaded trees, although I used an auxiliary die for this card.

I blended Basic Gray and Tuxedo Black on the image to create an ombre colouring. I added some splatters with a Basic Black Stampin’ Blend and as the the splatters fell, it almost looked like leaves falling off the tree.

I’ve heat embossed a sentiment from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set and added some silver metallic gems to complete this simple and elegant card.

Today is the last day to purchase these Designer Series Papers at a 15% discount. Shop online or contact me to place an order.

Ink Blending with Changing Leaves Bundle

Blessed Sunday to you! I created this card for my FB Live on Wednesday using the Changing Leaves bundle and I shared a fun ink blending tip to colour those leaves.

This bundle includes a stamp set, dies and hybrid embossing folder. It’s absolutely beautiful and I just love all the texture it gives.

The Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder I’ve used on this card will be available in the September-December Mini Catalogue. It’s one of my favourite products in there.

I’m following Card Sketch #271 at Sketch n Scrap and I love the little extra strip at the top on this sketch. On my card I added a torn strip of paper along with the Nature’s Sweetness DSP to create this look.

Check out that gorgeous texture on those autumn leaves. With the hybrid embossing folder it’s so easy to create this stunning look.

For all my tips to create this card, please watch the video below.

New at SU Blog Hop – Elevated Embossing with Layered Florals

Hello and welcome to our New at SU blog hop. This month we are sharing elevated embossing projects with you.

New at SU 2024 Header

Embossing folders are my favourite tools in papercrafting. Why?

  1. It’s quick to create texture with them
  2. They are low cost
  3. There are so many techniques to use with them

I used the Letterpress technique with the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder. To achieve this look, I added Lemon Lime Twist ink to the raised side (the one with the Stampin’ Up! logo), by patting my ink pad directly onto the folder. Not moving the cardstock, I re-applied the ink and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (SCEM) a couple of times.

Still with the Cardstock in place, I added Wild Wheat ink with a Blending Brush to sections of the same side. Then I ran it through the SCEM again. This was repeated until I was satisfied with the result. I went around the white space with the Garden Green Watercolour Pencil and blended it lightly with a Water Painter.

I added some Calypso Coral to the smaller flowers with a Sponge Dauber as I felt those needed a different look. The stamens of the larger flowers were accented with the Early Espresso Watercolour Pencil.

Some simple leaves form the focal point as I didn’t want to detract from the lovely embossing folder. A few splatters and a Linen Thread bow coplete this card.

I hope you have enjoyed what I have shared with you and give this technique a try. Please follow our hop through for lots more fun ideas for using your embossing folders.
